A dream, unforgettable stay!
We found ourselves in Marlengo, just steps from beautiful Merano, in a unique and evocative mountain setting with a stunning view of the city.
The rooms are spacious, tastefully furnished, and equipped with every comfort.
From the rich and varied breakfasts to the gourmet dinners, every moment at the table was a feast for the palate in an environment where we felt truly pampered.
The staff was friendly and always available, ready to satisfy every need with courtesy and kindness. It's the ideal place for those seeking relaxation, good food, and a unique and authentic experience in the mountains. We can't wait to return to relive these sensations and moments of true serenity and relaxation.

A very beautiful hotel with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent service in the dining room and kitchen, with a varied and varied menu, including vegan options. A sauna area for events with three infusions a day. The highlight is the cold plunge pool after the infusion, which not all hotels offer. Excellent cleanliness.

This wasn't our first time here, and we would definitely come back!
The service is very attentive, and the hotel, including the new bar and reception area, is absolutely beautiful.
The breakfast buffet is incredibly varied, with fresh food, fresh juices, South Tyrolean speck and cheese, healthy yogurts, and so much more – and you won't get overwhelmed! ️ We were also very impressed with the dinner.
The location is perfect for hiking, and you can reach Merano in 20 minutes by bus. The view is fantastic.
The only thing we missed was towels at the indoor and outdoor pools, like the ones in the spa area.

We spent a week there during the autumn holidays and felt right at home from the very beginning. The service was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always cheerful – you could tell they put their heart into their work. We had our dog with us, and he was also warmly welcomed everywhere, which we especially appreciated.
In the evenings, there was live music, which created a wonderful atmosphere – perfect for winding down the day. The food was consistently delicious, freshly prepared, and beautifully presented. You could tell they paid attention to quality and flavor.
The view of Merano and the surrounding mountains was simply breathtaking – whether at breakfast or dinner, the view was always a highlight. Overall, it was a wonderful week with a great atmosphere, excellent service, and a true holiday feeling. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

We felt completely at ease at La Maiena Resort – whether as a family or a couple, there's truly something for everyone! The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the entire team is incredibly friendly and attentive.
There are fantastic offers for families and plenty of space for everyone to move around freely. At the same time, the adults-only area is perfect for unwinding and enjoying yourself – wonderfully quiet, stylish, and with a touch of luxury.
The sauna infusions deserve special mention – simply amazing! ️ You can tell that true professionals are at work. The entire spa area is impeccably maintained and leaves nothing to be desired.
The culinary offerings are equally impressive – from breakfast to the evening menu, simply delicious, fresh, and prepared with great care.
We will definitely be back!

We are currently spending beautiful autumn days at the wonderful La Maiena. We were surprised with an upgrade. Many thanks to the reception staff and manager Evelyn.
All the other staff were also very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and beautiful. The pool is huge and the garden is very lovingly maintained.
This is our third time here and it certainly won't be our last.

A top-notch hotel with excellent service, outstanding food (both breakfast and dinner), wonderful, clean rooms, and an excellent spa area. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The only drawback is the nearby road and railway tracks (one star deduction for this), which most of the rooms overlook. However, they do offer a fantastic view of Merano and the surrounding area.

The hotel is in a good location (a bit noisy as it's located near a train and bus stop, but bearable).
Wellness and spa: Very good.
The breakfast is excellent with a wide selection and good quality products. The orange press and juicer with a wide selection of fruit, ginger, etc. are particularly positive.
The food, for us personally, is a bit too fine dining and too little choice. There's not much to suit the tastes of people under 40, which leads them to help themselves to the children's buffet.
An air conditioning system that can only be set to 22 degrees Celsius is not air conditioning at all! Without these things, it would have been more of a 5-star rating. Any criticism is addressed promptly :-)
Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio isn't quite right yet; hotels like Hohenwart, Edelweiss Salzburg, or Interalpen Tyrol are more likely to deliver.

Great location with a view of Merano. The train station is right across the street, perfect if you don't need a car.
The service staff is excellent, attentive and experienced, or not. They even hold a fork by the prongs and place it down. Many here need a bit more training. But everyone is friendly.
The devil is in the details, as is the case with this hotel: the salt and pepper shakers should always be filled and placed on the tables.
Criticism is accepted, and solutions are sought. The report about the very loud room occupants, like us, until late at night was also taken into account, and they were asked to be quieter.

We also particularly appreciated the buffet, which is perfectly tailored to children, offering them lots of fun and delicious options.
The service is always attentive, warm, and truly leaves nothing to be desired. The casual, yet extremely exquisite hotel concept creates a perfect blend of luxury and a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere – so unique that you immediately feel at home.

From July 7th to July 16th, 2025, we were privileged to spend a wonderful break at the La Maiena Merano Resort, and it was simply fantastic!
We received a warm welcome right from the check-in. Anna, our friendly contact person from the Hero Office, gave us a personal tour of the hotel. We then began our vacation with a glass of sparkling wine for dinner, a stylish and warm start.
Our entire stay was characterized by first-class service, genuine hospitality, and loving attention to detail. A big thank you to all the wonderful service heroes who made our vacation so special:
Clemens, Riadh, Panche, Muhebuhl, Laura, Anna, Rosanna, Rafaela, Monika; you are amazing!
A special shout-out also goes to the kitchen crew, who spoiled us every evening with exquisite dinner creations and a sumptuous breakfast in the morning.
On our last evening, we were even personally served dinner by Mathias, the head of the host family, a sign of true appreciation.
And not to forget: the fantastic spa team, whose professional sauna infusions provided pure relaxation.
The pools and the gym with a view of Merano are simply breathtaking. Every area of the resort invites you to relax and enjoy yourself.
We're going home with many wonderful memories and a completely refreshed feeling.

It might be a bit confusing at first to find your way around the different buildings. But since there are signs everywhere, you quickly find your way around. Breakfast and day spa
I am writing this review after spending 2 days at Maiena using the Gaudi Card. On the first day I had breakfast and on the second day I had the DaySpa. Therefore I cannot rate dinner and rooms.
The breakfast is 10/10, as it offers everything from sweet to savory. It is wonderful to be able to have breakfast on the outside terrace. Very friendly staff.
The spa is located between the top floor of the main building (reserved for adults) and the adjacent building, where on the 0th floor there is the swimming pool and above a terrace with 2 outdoor whirlpools. Here there is a fridge where you can serve yourself.
The DaySpa rate includes the afternoon cake buffet. Very good.
In the sauna the aufguss is done twice a day, here too the girl is very good. The relaxation areas and new outdoor whirlpool area are very good and well structured. The sauna area at the back has remained as it was before the renovation.
The view from the hotel and also from the sauna area is top!
Staff, including the owner, super helpful and friendly.
Definitely a Belvita that deserves this label! I will be back

A wonderful stay at La Maiena! The hotel impresses in every way – from the stylish furnishings and the warm service to the magnificent location with views over Merano.
We would particularly like to highlight the breakfast: It is by far one of the best we've ever experienced. Fresh, regional products, a huge selection – from savory to sweet –, juice stations, and many thoughtful details that make starting the day a true experience.
La Maiena is also ideal for families: hikes, relaxing by the pool, and culinary delights for all ages.
Tip: Guided hike to the hotel's own alpine hut, where the senior manager personally spoils guests with pasta or grilled specialties. He also serves his own raspberry schnapps to round off the day's hike.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! One of the highlights was definitely the bar – they serve excellent cocktails, and I highly recommend trying the mojito. The food was also fantastic, with a professional and attentive restaurant staff that made every meal enjoyable.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed and very well maintained. The spa area is spacious and incredibly relaxing, and the body massages were just what I needed to unwind.

We were guests at the La Maiena Meran Resort in May 2024 and will spend another 14 days here in August. The entire hotel is very stylishly decorated. The wellness area is technically high-quality, spacious and offers plenty of space.
The suite with whirlpool and sauna on the roof terrace is in a very quiet location and furnished with attention to detail. There is a daily program, such as yoga, hikes, MTB tours, etc. The breakfast buffet leaves absolutely nothing to be desired, the evening menu is delicious and the wines are excellent. Underground parking space included, MTBs to rent. The Waldner family and the team were very friendly and accommodating.

What a wonderful experience we just had at the Maiena Resort, where we found a fabulous location, warm, welcoming, and meticulously cared for down to the smallest details.
The rooms are luxurious with every comfort, immaculately clean and tidy, and the pillow menu is exceptional.
The same goes for the spa, where you're truly spoiled for choice.
Special mention goes to the magnificent infusions in the new Bellavista sauna, which boasts one of the most beautiful views of the city of Merano...it's a true postcard, fantastic!
For lovers of good food, this is the place to be.
The breakfast was excellent, and dinner served truly high-quality dishes, worthy of a fine restaurant.
The off-menu options (highly recommended) were excellent, prepared and served directly by the owner with great care and skill.
The evenings spent in the company of musical groups and exquisite cocktails were wonderful.
But above all, it was wonderful to find such kindness, helpfulness, and professionalism in this family...all of which makes you feel truly at home. These values are also conveyed to their staff, who are equally kind and professional.

The hotel's location above Merano offers a fantastic view. The entire hotel, from the rooms to the bar and spa area, is very well-maintained and inviting, and the food was always excellent. Unfortunately, it's the little things that make a hotel stay perfect. The staff is generally very attentive and polite, but the service definitely needs improvement. Orders were forgotten from time to time (the wine, or the eggs at breakfast, etc.), coffee was delivered cold, or we found a used toothpick from dinner on the table at breakfast in the morning. So, dear service team, there's still room for improvement!

The hotel is truly beautiful, the view is unique, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. However, I would like to emphasize that this is a paradise for children only.
Unfortunately, it's not suitable for vacationers seeking peace and relaxation. The pool was particularly noisy and crowded with children, which significantly hampered our rest.
Overall, the hotel is ideal for families with children, but for those seeking peace and quiet and wellness enthusiasts, there are more suitable alternatives in the area.

We wanted to enjoy a few days of wellness and chose the hotel primarily based on the weather forecast, i.e., a bit of sunshine if possible. This ultimately let us down a bit, but we were rewarded with a wonderful stay at La Majena.
The hotel impresses with its exquisite interiors, combining tranquility, elegance, and comfort. The staff, from reception to the spa, room service, and the restaurant, are very attentive, communicative, and friendly. I took advantage of the varied sports program (Pilates/Yoga), and here, too, the offerings are professional and suitable for everyone. I can highly recommend the Ayurvedic treatments (as a trained naturopath).
The cuisine is diverse and a feast for the palate as well as the eye.
The hotel is very well located, with hiking and biking tours practically on our doorstep.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely repeat this "lucky find."

We only had dinner, but we still received excellent service. Very professionally managed. After the renovations, there's a great bar, and the dinner was outstanding. The entire hotel is very quiet and well-managed, despite families with children, so everyone has a place to stay according to their needs. The view of Merano and the mountains from the terrace is beautiful. We will be back.

Overall: top quality and relaxing place.
Facilities: excellent. Great amount of options for swimming and relaxing. Two tennis courts, bikes, multiple pools, sufficient seating and laying areas.
Room: spacious, modern, clean, large balcony.
Location: amazing views from room and common areas. Train station directly next to the hotel is practical , but the diesel train makes a lot of noise.
Staff: very competent, friendly and accommodating.
Food: great options and excellent taste and quality. Both breakfast and dinner!
Improvements: Bed! Mattress was way too soft, two separate mattresses instead of one, bed a bit too short for me (1.82m), and two separate blankets. Upon request we received one big blanket the next day.

Even during the booking process, the staff made every effort to meet our needs. From check-in to departure, there were no complaints; the staff was extremely friendly and always attentive. The ambiance in the room, the wellness area, the restaurant, and the bar were absolutely top-notch and tasteful. The culinary delights are particularly noteworthy... regional, seasonal, and modern interpretations... top-notch! The business is family-run, and you can see that every day... The family is always present and actively involved... something you don't usually see!
Conclusion: Highly recommended, with excellent value for money.

Everything was perfect. We had a truly unique experience. The welcome was exceptional and the service was top-notch. The ability to check in at 7:30 a.m. was an added bonus, allowing us to start our vacation much earlier. We were greeted with a generous breakfast, meticulously prepared down to the last detail. The selection ranged from sweet to savory, including delicacies and seasonal produce. The pools and terrace with Jacuzzis allowed us to indulge ourselves even more than we could have hoped for. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a delicious coffee with a variety of excellent homemade cakes. In the evening, we were treated to a relaxing aperitif, and, last but not least, a superb dinner in a welcoming and intimate setting with top-quality dishes. Of course, we noted some small flaws, but we will email the property so as not to influence anyone reading this review. These are just small suggestions to further improve the quality of this fabulous place.

A beautiful hotel. This is our third time here. The newly added entrance, reception, and bar area on the first floor are so beautiful and a real asset to the hotel. Room 507 is fantastic , with a lovely large terrace and an indescribable view of Merano.
The service is first-class! We were delighted to see many familiar faces again. The food is excellent.

This is a hard-working management and family who do everything to make your stay as pleasant and beautiful as possible.
The location and hotel have charmed us so much that it's hard to find a match.
We have already visited this hotel 4 times and have plans to go here again with our family next summer.
Here you literally come to a family and not to a hotel chain.
Every year, new investments are made to go next level.

A top-notch experience, everything was perfect, and the facility was meticulously maintained down to the smallest detail. The rooms were spacious and fabulous, offering all the amenities and comforts you could wish for, even for families with children. The staff was always available, attentive, and always ready to serve you. The cuisine was Michelin-starred and sophisticated, and the spa treatments were excellent. The only flaw was the lack of clarity on the website and during the booking process regarding access to the spa and sauna area, which are reserved for scantily clad adults. When I asked for clarification, I was told that this is normal for them, as they're used to it. It would be appropriate, to ensure guests are able to choose the right facility for a relaxing stay, to mention this during the booking process and to highlight it more clearly on the website. THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL. There's NO BIDET in the room (nice and clean)!!! Italians use bidets, and I think Marlengo is in Italy ️
You charged us for "filtered" tap water, you say? €5.50!!!!!
The ice was like "still water" for €3.50!!!!
The wine glasses filled only two fingers deep, REALLY!!!! €6.50!!!
I asked for an explanation and was told that's how it works, and I paid!!! But I'll write a review for you️️️
That said: the buffet was poor, small, and not enough space for people who stay during holidays. Everything was very clean, kudos to the cleaning ladies. The panoramic terrace is an oasis for those like us who don't want to be surrounded by chaos.
Be less "stingy" with the money. It's NOT a cheap hotel, people pay and I find marching on the water in bad taste.

Fantastic room, very clean. The only flaw was that we could hear a little noise from the highway connecting Merano to Bolzano.
The indoor and outdoor pools were very nice, but the water temperature could be slightly higher.
The spa area was very nice, but not up to the standard of a 5-star hotel.
Breakfast was nothing special, but satisfactory.
The afternoon snack was far below expectations; there were only sweets, no savory options or cured meats. And the selection was the same every day of our stay.
Dinner, on the other hand, was very good, with excellent cuisine.
The bar staff wasn't very quick or responsive.
The view of Merano, on the other hand, was beautiful.

Ideal starting point for hikes and (mountain) bike tours of all levels of difficulty. Free bike rentals are available on-site (e-bikes are available for a fee).

We were picked up by a member of the La Maiena Hotel staff and received an incredibly friendly welcome. The children were also treated with respect at all times. When my husband was feeling under the weather one day and couldn't join us for dinner, a selection of light meals was brought to his room. I'm torn about writing a review of La Maiena, but I'm trying to remain as objective as possible, even though that's always subjective. So here's what I'll say:
5* - that absolutely applies to the price, which is definitely at 5* level (this also applies to the wine/bar/lunch menu)!
In my experience, 5* also applies to the service, friendliness, cleanliness, and professional handling of pre-check-in, booking, and the rooms, as well as the parking garage. The Wi-Fi is really fast.
The food is beyond reproach. I would have preferred a Caesar salad at the salad buffet; the arugula was pretty stale; sometimes it could have been replenished more quickly.
I'm not sure which direction La Maiena wants to take. It's family-run, but that doesn't mean it's a family hotel. There are quite a few adult-only areas, which is a good thing. However, if you're traveling with children, the offerings might not be quite sufficient. The pool is great for 1-2 days, but it lacks a bit of activity. A few more indoor activities (slides) would be helpful. A playroom in the corner under the stairs with a foosball table in the evenings isn't enough. However, children's dietary preferences are taken into consideration, even if it means schnitzel and fries, which is somewhat at odds with the parents' truly excellent 6-course menu. This naturally leads to children's foot traffic in the dining room. Hence a * deduction here.
I'd like to describe another aspect, but try not to rate it: it's the location! I don't mind the proximity to the train station, and I enjoy the view from the terrace in the morning. But – in the evening, the Marlinger Berg simply blocks the sun from late afternoon onwards (depending on the time of year). You have to be aware of this, as it affects the temperature outside. Now for a review: I look over to Tirolo, Schenna, or up to Hafling with a bit of sadness, because they can still enjoy hours of evening sun.
My conclusion:
Excellent cuisine, first-class service, spacious and clean rooms, superb beds, a beautiful and peaceful spa area, if you use it (but you always pay for it). Overall, something is missing that would warrant a full score. But I'll try it again when I get a chance. The wine list is really expensive.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Of the on-site facilities, we almost exclusively used the pool.
The restaurant offers Michelin-starred cuisine in the evenings, with a choice of a healthy or gourmet menu.
Breakfast was very varied and nothing was missing. The selection of bread rolls was also very good and delicious.
The hotel is opposite the Marling train station, so you can easily explore the area by public transport. The ticket for this was included in the room rate.

The pool and wellness area are all excellent. The staff are friendly and competent. Breakfast is perfect. The drinks at the bar leave nothing to be desired. Dinner on July 8th: The spreads on the table (supposed to be butter substitutes) were inedible. The vitello tonnato at the salad buffet was inedible; the sauce was watery and the veal looked like cold cuts. Penne carbonara had an indefinable sauce. (I had my friends try everything.) As I said, a great hotel; I think I'll come back. The kitchen will be given another chance; I'll give it my all when I get there. One more important point: our mattresses were too soft; next time I'll ask for newer or firmer mattresses.

We booked the Penthouse Suite Lodge Top of Meran with whirlpool & half board for 5 nights.
The hotel is located in Marlengo with a fantastic view of Merano. The street and train station directly in front of the hotel are a bit unfortunate. However, there was little traffic on the road and the railway line is currently being renovated, so we cannot assess the noise level. Neither of these things bothered us, but our room was on the upper floor.
The reception was very friendly. The suitcases were brought to our room and the room was shown to us personally.
The suite was generously sized, with 2 beds, a nice bathroom and a large balcony with its own whirlpool & view of Merano. Room 850 is absolutely recommended! Unfortunately the air conditioning is very loud. We just turned them off overnight, which was fine. There could be more coat hooks in the room (e.g. for towels near the shower)
Unfortunately, our initial euphoria was dampened at the first dinner. because we requested a table (outside with a view of Meran) when booking (3 months ago), but we got a place inside, in the side area of the restaurant with a view of the tennis court. We attach particular importance to the restaurant, food and service on vacation, so we asked for a new table. Unfortunately, the reaction from all 3 employees (service, reception & restaurant management) was very unfriendly and we felt completely offended. We didn't expect to get a new table IMMEDIATELY because of course there were other guests there before us. However, the reaction to our polite request was not right and the atmosphere on the first evening was unfortunately ruined!
After a written complaint via email, we were treated very kindly from then on. We got a free table as quickly as possible and the restaurant manager apologized to us several times and explained our behavior on the first evening, so that from then on we "started over" again and were able to enjoy our vacation to the fullest.
The breakfast is very good. There is a large selection of rolls, croissants, toast, cereals, sausages, cheese, fresh Ojuice, etc.! Warm dishes can be ordered fresh (e.g. porridge, eggs). We would have liked a larger selection of warm dishes at the buffet, as the waiting time for the warm dishes we ordered (e.g. porridge or eggs) was very long and we sometimes thought that we had been forgotten. We were almost finished with breakfast until it was served.
Dinner was to die for and it got even better every night. Salad buffet, 6-course menu with a large selection of courses, great desserts. The service could be a little more attentive. We often had empty glasses and the timing from espresso TO dessert didn't work once.
The cocktails in the bar are great. A big compliment to Patrick and Silviu!
The fitness room is well equipped and has a great view over Merano. Pool and spa area are nice and spacious. There are plenty of places to lie down (inside and outside) and the massages are great. Drinks at or in the pool are served in high-quality, reusable glasses! Great thing!
A few general suggestions for improvement:
The WIFI was sometimes slow and failed.
The drinks are relatively expensive. We often stay in hotels in this price range and cocktails for 11-15 euros and small cola for 3.50 euros are very expensive. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the bar, live music and the view on the terrace every evening.
The initial teething problems were quickly forgotten and we extended the stay by one night the day before our planned departure. This worked easily via email while we were on the move and we even received a discount for the additional overnight stay. Thanks for that!
We can definitely recommend La Maiena and are already considering coming back next year!

The La Maiena Resort is a wonderful place to relax and pamper yourself. We received a free upgrade, the decor is very chic and modern, the staff is super friendly, and the pool and spa area have everything you need for the best possible wellness experience. Patrik behind the bar makes fantastic cocktails, and the Waldner family personally welcomes all guests.
For me, it was an all-around successful vacation, and Marling offers many leisure activities.
I only have one criticism – the non-alcoholic drinks are overpriced in my opinion.

We stayed three nights in the Penthouse Spa Suite and I have to say the room is really cool.
It should be, considering the price of around €580 per night for half board. The whirlpool and sauna on the private terrace are nice, but we were disappointed with the food.
On the first evening, we were really looking forward to the six-course gourmet menu.
Negative examples:
A dessert was served as a starter (Crème Brûlée).
The waiters were really hardworking and attentive—except for ours, who was never around. Even the other waiters noticed this because they kept checking on us. Later, I caught the waiter in question playing on his phone in the basement restroom... from that point on, he was very attentive .
``` There were two soups to choose from: one quite good with omelet pieces, and one kombucha... I thought it sounded interesting, I'll try it—kombucha is a tea drink, I later learned, and I don't know why on earth anyone would have the stupid idea of serving tea as soup?!
I asked our waiter if it was a soup and he laughed at me. From that evening on, we didn't eat at the hotel again, we went to the Traubenwirt restaurant and were really pleasantly surprised by how good the food was there!
Positive:
The sauna infusions and massages are highly recommended! Thanks, Sigrid! The spa, swimming pool, and bistro are also great. The rooms in the new building are very nice.
Negative:
The hotel is subject to noise from the Vinschgau Railway from both the front and the back; it's not really bothersome, but it's good to be aware of.

Our one-week stay was wonderful again this year. Thank you so much for that. Your staff couldn't be surpassed; they were so friendly and helpful. A big compliment also to the lovely housekeepers, who do a truly fantastic job. However, I would like to point out a few minor things.
- As a smoker, it's really cold in the fall and winter months. Perhaps you could set up a smoking room there :)
- As a smoker, I would like a dry, comfortable seating area by the pool, even in the fall/winter.
- For dinner, I would also like to have something with turkey or pork, as not everyone likes fish, veal, and the like – or at least offer alternatives.
- The pool temperature is a bit too cold; it's fine for swimming, but staying there longer to relax isn't possible. For example, another small pool with a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius would be a nice solution.
- In the new building, for the suites with a terrace and whirlpool, a roof for rain would be desirable.
Minor requests or suggestions: otherwise, you're simply fantastic. Until 2020, perhaps with one or two surprises:)

Once upon a time, there was a hotel that wanted to be five-star, but couldn't...
That's probably exactly how the fairy tale of La Maiena would begin. It's a nice hotel with five stars on its signs. However, many things are still labeled with four stars. It's logical that old towels, bath mats, bags, and the like aren't simply thrown away. But that somehow demonstrates how well the hotel embraces its five-star status. The price is right there. For six nights, a small suite in the old building, the Residence, can easily cost over €350 per night. Therefore, guests can expect full five-star hospitality and amenities.
Unfortunately, that's not the case. There are many places where the five stars are probably justified. The new building is, of course, very nice, professionally furnished and decorated throughout. The rest is ultimately sloppily tweaked to achieve a five-star rating. Here's a rotten electrical outlet, rusty lamps, ancient and uncomfortable loungers in the garden, etc. Basically, all these little things that shouldn't be there for a five-star hotel. After all, they're supposed to be paid for, no matter what. The surcharge list and the minibar are also breathtaking.
The food is very good. The evening menu could definitely be described as gourmet. The waiters are consistently very friendly and attentive. But here, too, some of the five-star concept is missing. The owner family is extremely present in photos, postcards, flyers, banners, in the entrance area, etc. It seems to be a new trend. ;-)
The location is also worth mentioning. Between two train lines and next to a bus stop, it's very central, but also extremely noisy.
On the positive side, the region is really very, very beautiful, each room has its own parking space, and the food is very good. The rooms are very clean, and the pillow selection is fantastic. The spa area is very good and not very busy. The pools are also great.
Conclusion:
Not really a five-star hotel. At least not in my opinion. Therefore, one star deducted. Also one star deducted for the tremendous noise coming from the street and the railway line. Thanks for the stay anyway.

- The food: well here they really go above and beyond, the quality of the ingredients, the fresh veggies and fruits, seriously congratulations on your suppliers and on the selection process. Also the Chef at dinner, really loved the creativity of the dishes, the flavours, the sizes, everything on this angle was outside. The food is worth a 5!!
- The Kids Club and the kids facilities: Gaia is amazing, our daughter Lavinia loved her. She loved to have dinner with all the other kids. Also the small pools for kids and babies were an amazing idea! As well as the Indoor and Outdoor playground
- The Indoor Pool area: water temperature was perfect, beds for relax and towels great
- Indoor parking: really useful!
- The gym: great setting
What could have been even better
- I would have preferred to know that the train station was in front of the hotel, it was not annoying however is one of those things useful to know
- Afternoon snacks: the cakes were soooo good however personally I couldn't benefit from it as I have diabetes so in the end there were 0 options for me as also fruit was not an option
- Service at lunch: while at dinner it was amazing at lunch was incredibly slow
- Lower water price: I mean, 4€ a litre is a bit too much
- Overall price should be a little lower: I mean we spent for a week what you could have spent in the Maldives....ok it was mid of August but still...

If it were a 4-star hotel, I would have given it the highest rating, but since it's a 5-star, no, it's not. The property is very beautiful and has great potential, but the people who work there have a lot to do. I'll start by saying that the owners are very nice, always present and on the front line. I'll start with the food offerings: breakfast isn't bad, although the quality of the savory options could be improved. The afternoon snack is only sweet, and there's not even a hint of water, which is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. But my least favorite part was dinner, with a vegetable buffet and identical vegetarian options four nights in a row—honestly, I've never experienced that! The menu served was very good. After dinner, we wanted to take a walk in Merano, and since we didn't have a car and public transportation was exhausted, we asked for a hotel transfer and were told the porter was no longer on duty. So, to pass the time, we asked for some cards, but after being sent back and forth from reception to the bar to search for them, we couldn't get an answer other than that they couldn't find them.
Another unpleasant thing: I don't understand why the only relaxation area for adults, with the only hot tub, should be exclusively for nudists. I find that rude.

The staff is friendly and always ready to answer guests' questions. The owners are also always available and organize daily entertainment. The daily printout of a news sheet with tips for the following day is a nice touch. For a small price difference, we recommend the very comfortable junior suite. The garage parking space assigned to each room with the same number and well-connected to the property is also very convenient. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. The price is obviously typical of a 5-star resort, but it's worth it for the amenities offered.

Personally, the train station in front of the hotel complex doesn't bother me at all.
The view of Merano from up here makes up for any train noise... which, by the way, is more than bearable given the distance the trains run.

Clean rooms and a good location overlooking the city of Merano, very nice infinity pool. However, the air conditioning in the new building is somewhat confusing. Upon arrival, there was no sauna fragrance for the sauna infusion on the balcony. After inquiring at reception, I was told that it could be purchased in the spa area, which, in my opinion, is not justified by the price of the room.

The old main building houses modernized, renovated rooms with large balconies and views over Merano. Especially in the evening, now in June, the many lamps in the town and in the houses on the mountain slopes are illuminated. The soft chirping of crickets accompanies the balmy evening atmosphere...
In the wellness area, there is a small event sauna, with a sauna master offering a short program in the afternoon, starting at 5 p.m.
With three infusions, an aromatic game, and subtle music. She sensitively distributes the hot, humid air enriched with various aromas with a fan or a towel.
Afterwards, I take a smart refreshing drink and enjoy the fresh fruit. A service I appreciate.
In the evening, the menu is served with live music, and the relaxed guest enjoys the evening atmosphere.
In the morning, the day begins on the sun terrace with a rich buffet. Everything is fresh and delicious.
The waiter serves coffee; always with a friendly smile.
The new building features comfortable, modern rooms and an exceptionally beautiful roof terrace. Here, I can retreat and relax.

Great wellness hotel with very nice rooms in the new building. A very good breakfast; there's nothing you can't find. The only thing that's a bit annoying is the train in front of the hotel. However, it's convenient for those who want to go into town. It's nice that there's a coffee machine in the room.
It would have been nice to be offered something to drink upon arrival, as it was quite hot. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Everything was fantastic.
The location was top-notch, as were the room, spa, and every area of the resort.
The exquisite staff was always available and helpful.
The breakfast was very good, as was the dinner, with Michelin-starred service.

A spa, gourmet cuisine, and breathtaking views of the Merano valley are the cornerstones of the quality service offered.
Attention to detail (all the details) from the rooms to the dining room, from the bathrooms, changing rooms, service, and/or reception to the attentive service provided to guests.
A short distance from Merano, offering the opportunity to hike in the mountains along marked trails.
We stayed in the days after Christmas, with a three-quarter board package.
Impeccable service across the board; even if I wanted to have some flaws, I can only think of two:
- the slippers provided in the spa kit are truly ridiculous; bring a nice pair of slippers/flip-flops.
- a train passes in front (in fairness, the station is just a short distance away). It's unpleasant to look at (you look out and the train passes by), but unless you're on the terrace enjoying the view, it's not a bother at all.

Here you'll find everything your heart desires.
Wellness options abound – a large outdoor pool heated to 32C, many different saunas, a weight room with panoramic views, and various courses.
Your physical well-being is well catered for. Gourmets will be delighted. The service is first-class, the staff friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is fantastic, with an excellent selection.
The hotel offers guided hikes and bike tours. You can also explore the area independently with the hotel's own bicycles (which can be borrowed free of charge). You can safely leave your car in the hotel's underground garage, as buses and trains are within easy reach. We were able to relax thoroughly.

A truly unforgettable vacation. Congratulations on the beautiful facility and the way guests are treated with utmost care. The children's areas (even the littlest ones) are excellent.
The pools are each more beautiful than the last. Even though the facility was fully booked, the feeling of absolute privacy was what struck us most. The cuisine is limited in variety and not very Italian, a bit slow for our tastes, given that dinner lasts an hour and a half on average. The quality bike rental service is excellent.
It will be nice to be able to return, even if just for a weekend.

Nice, clean, but customers are treated differently.
If you're used to being a first-class guest and can't find a suite available here, so you "settle" for a standard room, well, you'll be upgraded to a second-class one, with a standard dining room, a somewhat noisy waiter, and so on.

Overall, La Maiena is a great resort. We were there for the season opening, but unfortunately, a few things weren't quite right. At dinner, the waiter first forgot about us, and then we brought the wrong dishes twice. However, you can tell that they take the criticism to heart; the Waldner family, the owners, are always on hand to help out in an emergency.
Update: We were back this fall, and I've revised my rating from 4 to 5 stars – the hotel has now perfected everything that wasn't so well-coordinated at the beginning of the season. We also brought our young son, and everything in the room was perfectly and lovingly prepared. High praise, and we will definitely be back!

Nice and quiet atmosphere. Not very oriented to families, probably.
Dinner time is too long...we where a family of 4, and our girls had to stay sit (wait) for the food more than 1:30h, just for 1 plate of pasta and 1 plate of meat (our girls didn't order apetizers).
One evening it was told they gave priority to a group (note that we where staying in one of the most expensive room..).
Pasta portions (ravioli, for example) are tiny, at least for people enjoying eating pasta: we counted 3 ravioli in all on our plate.
