The Ansitz Plantiz is the perfect place for guests who love something special. The host couple and their hotel team ensure a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Here in Obermais, the exclusive residential district of Meran, guests have an enjoyable and relaxing time out. Enjoying and relaxing
In the morning, till 11 am the breakfast buffet offers a rich selection, at noon until afternoon there are small à la carte dishes and in the evening the gourmet dinner with wine advice awaits. The big glass fronts and the glass roof of the garden restaurant can be opened by simply pressing a button. Guests often dine outside due to the mild climate of Meran. There is an atmospheric wine cellar and a wide selection of whisky, rum and gin. We spent our New Year's holidays at this wonderful hotel, and it was an incredible experience.
The Gufler family manages the hotel impeccably and exceptionally; their kindness and willingness to accommodate our every need and request was greatly appreciated.
Upon our arrival, we were offered a very welcome room upgrade.
The rooms are wonderful, meticulously maintained, and spotlessly clean, as was the entire hotel.
The food is exquisite; compliments to both the kitchen and the dining room staff, who were all incredibly kind.
The spa area is designed for ultimate relaxation, and is very spacious.

It's always a wonderful feeling to walk through the golden entrance gate and immediately feel completely at ease and happy. A fantastic welcome awaited us, complete with a complimentary drink on the terrace. We stayed in the vintage suite with a wonderful view of the garden and courtyard. The culinary experience was, as always, simply perfect. Whether it was breakfast, the midday snacks/cake buffet, or dinner with a truly delightful wine recommendation from the junior chef, everything was exceptional. A great selection of drinks at the cozy bar rounded off a wonderful day at Ansitz Plantiz. This time, we booked the VW bus tour through the vineyards with Mr. Gufler. It was a fantastic experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were a great group, and Mr. Gufler made the tour incredibly engaging and humorous. Highly recommended! The spa area was also a highlight, and our booked massages were very relaxing. Also worth mentioning is the unobtrusive and genuine friendliness of all the staff. Great respect also goes to the gardening team, who make this wonderful garden possible, no matter the season. We've already booked again for the end of April and are really looking forward to it.

We spent a weekend at Antiz Plantiz to celebrate my birthday, and it was truly wonderful. The hotel has a fantastic location with a mountain panorama, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, fulfilling every wish.
The car was parked for us, and our luggage was brought to our room. For my birthday, the hotel provided thoughtful gifts, and my boyfriend was able to order flowers as a surprise, which was perfectly organized.
The breakfast was fresh and delicious, even if the selection was a bit limited. The eggs sometimes took a little longer to cook, but everything was of very good quality. The spa area is very clean; the steam room and plunge pool in particular were just what we needed! The honey beauty products are also very special.
The garden is incredibly beautiful and well-kept, and above all, wonderfully peaceful.
The bar was also a very pleasant place to relax in the evening, with great drinks and a birthday cocktail voucher.
The late checkout until 5 p.m. for an additional charge was particularly convenient—perfect for ending the last day in a relaxed manner.
Overall, a very pleasant stay with great service, a lovely atmosphere, and great attention to detail. Many thanks to the hotel's host family; we'd love to come back!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. From the very first moment, I felt warmly welcomed – the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always helpful.
The room was very clean, modern, and thoughtfully furnished down to the last detail. I particularly liked the comfortable bed and the peaceful atmosphere – perfect for relaxing after a long day.

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. From the arrival until the end, everything was perfect, every wish fulfilled. The staff was very nice, we even got a softer materess or a breakfast to go when we asked for it! Morning yoga and evening meditations are included! The outside pool was just stunning, the whole area so relaxing. From the spa, we liked the infrarot sauna the best. In the mornings, we were presented a huge breakfast buffet and very tasty coffee. We stayed here in mid Nov 24. Loved the hotel, loved Merano. Upon check in we were automatically upgraded to a very nice large modern room. Had a large walk-in wardrobe and large lounge area and view of apple groves. The spa facilities were comprehensive; good sized heated pool, saunas, and quiet chill areas. We had a massage session - the masseur (lady) was good.
Breakfast was good and dinner also good (especially the steak). wonderful service overall.
The exterior was well landscaped. Merano in autumn was absolutely beautiful and romantic, the walks, the colors. The walk from the hotel into town was beautiful too.. 10-15 min.

Where should I begin?
My boyfriend and I had two unforgettable days!
The wonderful garden with the beautiful pool where we swam every morning!
The room was spotless, the in-house care products were a delight for skin, hair, and nose!
The small but fine sauna and spa area was a feast for the mind, and
The yoga class with Victoria (at least I think so) was balm for the soul and ears!
The massage was incredibly pleasant, neither of us wanted to get up

The hotel is lovingly furnished and invites you to linger, the garden is simply stunning. If you're a classic car fan, you'll always meet like-minded people here... Perfect for us, just a short walk to Merano or the Trautmannsdorf Gardens. There's also a bus stop right outside the front door! A year ago, we walked from the Trautmannsdorf Gardens towards Merano and asked for directions and if we could use the restroom. What a coincidence to have booked here!

A truly beautiful hotel. Very quiet location, far from the town center. The garden and grounds are very well-maintained, with a lovely smoking lounge and a gigantic selection of rum and whiskey. Since the owner is a vintage car enthusiast himself, there are very large underground parking spaces for every type of vehicle. The wine selection at dinner is very good; unfortunately, the food itself is okay, but doesn't quite match the overall standard of the hotel. The new rooms, in particular, are beautifully furnished. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, especially because the price-performance ratio is really good compared to other hotels here. Otherwise, you receive a very friendly welcome, and everyone else is very nice.

Our first visit to the Hotel Ansitz Plantiz was simply fantastic! On our way back to Germany from Italy, we stayed here for two days in a junior suite. The spa area is first-class, and the varied program leaves nothing to be desired. The exclusive wine cellar, with over 21,000 bottles and many rare wines, was particularly impressive. The family-run hotel, run by the Gufler family, boasts very friendly and attentive staff. The excellent cuisine of Chef Norbert Hanifle and Margit Gufler's homemade honey products perfectly round off the experience.
The hotel also offers free Wi-Fi, two year-round pools, a fitness area, and numerous leisure activities such as cycling and hiking. The rooms are modern and comfortably furnished, many with balconies and stunning views. Free parking and a variety of wellness and beauty treatments make the stay particularly pleasant. We will definitely be back!

Amazing hotel, we really enjoyed our stay. The outdoor heated pool is surrounded by a beautiful garden, it’s like heaven. The spa area is excellent, with a variety of saunas, relaxing area amd indoor pool.
We had dinner in the restaurant, which I highly recommend for the food and service. I ate the most decadent dessert - panna cotta with pineapple and caramelised hazelnuts.
Also the breakfast is very tasty, high quality food.

What can we say? It was one of our most wonderful stays so far in a truly dream hotel. It's actually even more beautiful than the pictures – and, with all due respect, these already promise heavenly conditions. Everything was perfect here, perhaps except for the weather. The fact that we enjoyed it so much was due to the hotel, the fantastic and charming hotel family, the wonderful and always genuinely friendly staff, and – the magnificent food! There's a very large selection of wines to suit every taste. The wellness offerings are top-notch, the spa area very inviting, and it smells heavenly fresh – as is the case throughout the entire hotel, which we've certainly experienced differently even at 5* hotels. Many thanks to the "room and cleaning fairies." You literally remain a guest until the very last second. That's also very rare! We arrived immediately and immediately fell in love with this wonderful hotel and its wonderful people. We will definitely be repeat guests. Many thanks to the hosts for the wonderful days.

The only criticism is that the sauna selection is limited. However, it does have a 90-degree sauna and a steam bath, which is sufficient. The massage and treatment options offer plenty of relaxation! I had originally planned to stay for only one or two days, but ended up staying for four and would have loved to stay even longer. I am absolutely thrilled with this beautiful, cozy hotel, run by a lovely family and located very close to Merano. The entire property is a true paradise with an outdoor pool and many cozy corners where you can completely forget the stresses of everyday life. As a special surprise, I was offered a room upgrade. The food is perfect, and there's an extensive drinks menu. The entire staff is simply first-class – friendly and always attentive. There's even a daily newspaper that informs you about the various sports, leisure, and excursion options. From yoga to wellness treatments, everything is available, and there's even a mental coach on hand. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

I didn't stay overnight, I only enjoyed an iced coffee in the garden on April 9, 2023 (which was completely overpriced at almost €10).
The garden is very nice, and you can sit quite privately in the seating areas. The wonderful peace and quiet was only disturbed by the unnecessary music from the speakers.
The service was friendly.
The ice in the iced coffee was crystallized, so it had probably already thawed :(

Having tried several establishments in the same category, I can give it three stars for three main reasons:
1. I understand that we're in South Tyrol, so it's almost like "Germany," but damn... you could use a few more smiles at some Italians who'll still charge you over a grand for two days... and it's closed.
2. The spa: not 5-star... cold relaxation areas, a pool that's not warm, no whirlpools... in short, they could work on it.
3. It seems like everything is for sale (and it is), from the lamps to the figurines, to the decorations... but are we in a hotel or a market?
In conclusion: it's not worth it, it's nice, but you can find much better for the price paid...

If you make any negative comments (in brackets) you will be severely punished by the owner. At the beginning you were assigned a table in the evening which you used every day. In our case we were immediately severely punished because of a bad review and were assigned a different table, even though we had very nice table neighbors. They then visited us every evening at our table and also in the hotel room. I think it is a bottomless cheek of the owner to impose such punishments. We will not be visiting this hotel again. Our first arrival at the hotel was very pleasant. Everything was quiet, dignified, and unfussy. A glass of Prosecco was offered to welcome us while the car was parked and our luggage was taken to our spacious room on the third floor. Further report to follow.
On our second day yesterday, we enjoyed an excellent dinner after checking into the modern Panorama Suite. Rooms 502 and higher are highly recommended and worth the extra charge. The many private seating areas in the hotel are also very nice.
We took a short and pleasant walk to the promenades, and now we're sitting with coffee and a complimentary cake buffet.
The hotel's wine list is also fantastic, and the markups on the price at the wineries are within normal limits.
So far, the hotel has completely won us over.

So, I've been to this hotel three times now, aged 15, 16, and 18. Each stay was wonderful; it was always two weeks. I can definitely recommend it for children, teenagers, and young adults. The rooms have their own, very stylish charm. The complex as a whole has a great location and looks very nice. The wellness facilities are fantastic, with the highest quality, where you can simply relax. The service is very friendly (that goes out to you, Carmen), and the hikes with Louis are always worth a report. And last but not least, the food. Every dish is perfectly presented, the portions are the perfect size, and they taste simply delicious. Every time it's time to leave, I'm very sad to leave this place. But after these three visits, I'm certain that I will visit this hotel again and again. Thank you for the wonderful stays, and here's to a few more.

A true gem among South Tyrol's top hotels
South Tyrol is such a dreamy region; anyone who knows it knows just how beautiful its top hotels are. A special place, however, is the Hotel Ansitz Plantitscherhof, lovingly run by the family. It is located in the heart of Merano's residential area, overlooking vineyards. The small town of Merano is just a 10-minute drive away. You enter through an old gate and find yourself in the middle of a shady square, in the center of which an old tree exudes a romantic atmosphere. The entire grounds, with their lovingly planted flowers, bushes, and shrubs, are complemented by chairs and tables, ensuring privacy at all times. We enjoyed a wonderful cake buffet outside. In the room, which is actually a small suite (room 503), everything is snow-white without feeling the slightest bit cold. And on the balcony, you can chill with an entire soccer team—it's that big (a bit exaggerated ).
And then the food – in the evening, there were multi-course menus that were second to none. The wine list leaves nothing to be desired – no wonder, given the hotel's wine cellar is spread over several levels and contains around 20,000 bottles. It's impossible to even begin to keep track of everything.
The breakfast buffet is so diverse that you'd actually need two hours to properly enjoy everything.
The Plantitscherhof also has another special feature – the garage full of vintage cars. You can rent a Mercedes Pagoda, a Fiat 500, or an Alfa Romeo, fill a picnic basket, and drive off into the vineyards.
This house absolutely captivated us. It has an almost mystical aura, the way it sits there on a small hillside and welcomes its guests. Even for us, who travel a lot – a real highlight!

Excellent, family-run hotel in a very good location. You sit in the garden and feel at home. Best of all, with a good glass of wine from the wine cellar, which, in my opinion, leaves nothing to be desired.
The owner is also a passionate vintage car enthusiast, and this characterizes the hotel and its surroundings. His organized tours in these "old cars" are very popular with locals and guests alike.
It almost sounds like an advertisement, but it's true. Excellent! Keep it up, dear Gufler family.

My wife and I went here to the beautiful Hotel Ansitz Plantitscherhof after our wedding. We were thrilled from day one. The food is perfectly prepared in every way, no matter what we order. It is of the highest quality. The staff is exceptionally well trained and always dedicated in every department, whether they are waiters, SPAR employees, or even receptionists. The family that runs this hotel is there for its guests around the clock. I highly recommend the restaurant and the hotel, with everything that goes with it!

A very well-maintained hotel. I've been coming here for years and don't intend to stay anywhere else. The spa area is top-notch at reasonable prices. The food is gourmet, with a variety of healthy dishes. The service is very friendly. They offer wines from all over the world. The bar is a must for whisky lovers, boasting the largest single malt collection in South Tyrol.
The rooms are beautifully and comfortably furnished.
It's always a pleasure to admire the classic cars in the garage.
The Gufler family always greets their guests personally and makes the impossible possible. At the Plantischerhof, you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

Everything was clean and decorated with lovely details. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff. Furthermore, the friendliness of the entire staff deserves high praise. Great, central location, perfect hiking and excursion opportunities. A very nice oasis of well-being. Great sauna and spa area. There was also a fitness room. Excellent cuisine. So in summary, we were extremely satisfied and would gladly come back!

Maybe it's too big, but I completely missed the privacy here. The complex is built around the pool on three sides. This means you're on display at the pool. There's no place to retreat outside, as there's simply not enough space. When children, quite rightly, play in the pool and are loud, as children are when they play, there are no quiet corners to relax. If people are still sitting in the garden/courtyard late in the evening, chatting, the hotel practically hears them. Alternatively, you can close the window. This isn't always an option in midsummer.
We experienced both in terms of service: very friendly staff and the opposite. For example, if I walk into the breakfast room and three waiters nod their greetings, waitress number four doesn't have to groan when we unruly try to figure out how the seating system works ourselves. Why don't the first three give us a quick briefing?
At reception, we experienced everything from handshakes to focused ignoring.
The pool is decent, but is sometimes closed or covered at 7 p.m.
There were also many good things. The cleaning staff were always cheerful and friendly. Our lady thanked us briefly for a small tip with a note. At the wine cellar dinner, we had a very competent waiter who guided us through the evening.
All in all, I don't think we'd come back. Perhaps we had too high expectations based on the reviews. But it's not 5 stars.
Nevertheless, all the best to the team and owners.
P.S. There are far too few loungers by the pool compared to the number of guests.

I spent a weekend in December two years ago, during the Merano Christmas markets.
The hotel is located a 5-minute drive from the center or a nice 15-minute walk.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed in a suite in the complex facing the pool.
Large room with every comfort.
Excellent mattress and great sleep.
Nice spa, but I didn't use it.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety, served on a lovely veranda.
Of course, there's parking.
The price isn't cheap, but the quality is high.
I also tried the restaurant for dinner, but I have to say I wasn't very impressed.
Otherwise, a nice weekend.

Very friendly staff, but the structure does not even come close to the declared 5-star rating. In a room for four, my daughters slept on a sofa bed. Insects were constantly present in the appetizer area, and some flies were on the food. But the most unacceptable thing is the €6.50 per bottle of water, despite the cost of the stay per person.

Our stay at the Hotel Plantitscherhof began with a very pleasant and professional interaction with the receptionist. Our special requests were discussed in detail, and everything worked out perfectly!
The complex itself surprised us greatly! I've never seen such a well-thought-out and planned facility on such a limited footprint! Very well maintained! Even in the wonderful garage. There's nothing lying around that's just 'parked' or temporarily stored. You know the garages where 'miscellaneous' things take up space. Not here.
There are many small decorative pieces that fit perfectly. Currently, the balance is struck between too much of a good thing and a perfect fit. Please no more decorations or tables and chairs!
The outdoor pool, open from 7 a.m., is made of stainless steel and, at 28 degrees, is very pleasant and beautiful to look at. Big congratulations to the caretaker and gardeners; everything here is in tip-top condition and lovingly maintained.
The quality of the furnishings continues in the restaurant, and the service is also very good, friendly, and competent. Thank you!
The prices are still reasonable for South Tyrol. 2x spaghetti, antipasti buffet, and 1x dessert with 2 non-alcoholic drinks for €60.
The breakfast selection leaves nothing to be desired.
The room service is also perfect. The room was always ready after breakfast. Turndown service in the evening.
The room (double) is well furnished with a very spacious bathroom/WC/bidet/shower area and a spacious flat-screen TV and balcony. Italian blinds provide 100% blackout!
Here too: Nothing looks like it's been used for more than maybe one or two seasons, no signs of wear and tear! And we were in the older part of the complex! So if this standard can even be maintained, I'm blown away.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on the sports offerings, but the massage in the 'Golden Spa' was very good!
As a classic car enthusiast, I was naturally delighted with the classic car aperitif and the many magazines on the subject, as well as the roadbooks for tours. It's a shame the boss, who drives a classic car, didn't have time for a chat.
We were absolutely thrilled with our stay! The location, a 10-minute walk to Trautmannsdorf Castle and a 15-minute walk to the city center, is also perfect!

Just to be clear: I rate according to the standards the providers set for themselves. And I can only compliment the family and the team. Our room with its breathtaking panorama over Merano, the entire complex, the consistently attentive service, the seemingly endless selection of wines, whiskeys, gins, and rums, as well as the excellent cuisine, the spa area including relaxation rooms, the indoor and outdoor pools (saltwater)... You should also take advantage of the accompanying activities, including wine tours, mountain hikes, and relaxation programs like Qi Gong and yoga. An enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

A very nice place to rest in a wonderful garden with a lot of plants. The outside pool is well placed to take the sun even if it's a little bit cold. The inside pool is big enought to swim and rest. Rooms (we took the garden one) is well designed and beds were very confortable. The bad point was about english. No paper were in french and very few in english. Even daily menus were only in german so very difficult to understand and the staff was not fluent enought to explain too. However we enjoyed our stay.

It's nice here. Friendly and unobtrusive service in four languages. It smells like a sauna. There is a spa and a "buffet". I'll go to Sardena in a year, definitely through this hotel.
