Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, so we immediately felt at home. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which made our stay even more pleasant. The food in the hotel restaurant and the service were also excellent. The hotel's location is particularly convenient: from here you can start hiking trails directly or easily use the local buses. You can park your car safely in the underground garage, and there are even electric vehicle charging stations available. We can definitely recommend this hotel.

A highly recommended hotel in a stunning panoramic location, with beautiful, large, bright rooms that are very thoughtfully furnished. The staff is always friendly and relaxed. Dinner is excellent (I especially appreciated the option to indicate "GR" for a large portion on the dinner menu). Breakfast offers a wide selection, primarily featuring local products (bacon, honey, salami). The spa area is also fantastic. The Panorama Hotel on the sunny slopes of Dorf Tirol comes highly recommended. Excellent bus connections are available, with the bus stop just 50 meters away (free with the South Tyrol Card provided by the hotel).
The only downside is the rather high drink prices (e.g., a 0.5L wheat beer costs €8).

We really appreciate it when staff members are genuine and express their personalities. The whole family is incredibly warm and friendly.
All the staff are always very personable and extremely friendly.
Whether it's the chambermaids or the handymen, they're always smiling and accommodating. The breakfast chef is very personable.
A special mention goes to the kitchen. You can tell from the various dishes that they're skilled and enjoy what they do. For example, the osso buco, wild boar loin, the vegetarian options, and the entire menu.
Sophisticated, but not so overwhelming or overly complex that you end up with twelve different things on your plate and have to guess where everything belongs.
Breakfast was perfect!!!

A very beautiful, family-run hotel in the village of Tirol. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. We loved the view, the room, and the private sun terrace. The menu was exceptional, almost Michelin-star worthy, and vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy. There are plenty of sun loungers in the pool and spa area during the summer months, but these were rather limited during the winter. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as we lacked nothing and felt very comfortable there.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 8 nights in mid-September.
We stayed in room 806, on the 8th floor. It was practically above the rooftops of Merano. The view was impressive, but also in the rooms below.
As I wrote last year (almost exactly a year ago), a hotel in all its facets contributes to a sense of well-being. This begins with the phone calls and chats beforehand.
The friendliness at reception/check-in is impressive and genuine. This continues with the staff in the restaurant. Attentive and very friendly.
The Zagler family's two daughters, Anna and Sarah, are so personable, dedicated, and warm. It's simply a pleasure to exchange ideas.
We also found the empathetic conversations with Mrs. Zagler extremely pleasant.
The hotel was newly built a few years ago, with clean lines that continue into the rooms. An extremely extensive breakfast in the restaurant with a view of Merano sets the day off to a cheerful start. The dinner was simply a delight.
Parking is available in the underground car park and in front of the garage entrance. The hotel is located in the center of Tirolo.
What's new is that the hotel is open until January 7th.
We wish the Zagler family continued success in the coming years!

There are three main courses to choose from: meat, fish, or vegetarian. The dessert buffet, which is available every Friday, is phenomenal! The pastry chef, Martin, is simply fantastic and is happy to share his recipes. Manuel, who is in charge of the bar and wine, does this with great joy; you can feel his passion for his job. The service is fantastic and very attentive! At breakfast, the egg virtuoso makes wonderful scrambled eggs, omelets, and crêpes—no one else can do it like Sunny—with charm and humor! You can get the most beautiful feet from the beauty fairy Karo, the massages are also a treat, and the facials are a dream! We stayed at the Panorama Hotel on the sunny slope in Tirolo in mid-August and can only say: this vacation was a dream from start to finish. Even before we arrived, we felt welcome. The junior manager wrote us an incredibly friendly email, and when we arrived, we received an equally warm welcome. This attentive and personal welcome immediately made it clear that we had arrived in the right place and ensured that our vacation began with a good feeling.
The hotel itself is located in the heart of town, making it the perfect location. The bus station is right nearby, shops and attractions are within easy walking distance, and yet you can still enjoy a relaxing tranquility. Architecturally, the modern extension immediately impresses, but only after spending a few days there do you realize how much love and attention has gone into its design. There are small details everywhere that make the hotel a place of well-being. The hillside location and the view of the Merano Valley are the icing on the cake. This view simply never gets old, whether at breakfast, by the pool, or in the evening with a glass of wine.
The biggest highlight, however, is and remains the team. After just a few minutes, we felt like we had arrived, almost as if we were visiting friends. This feeling persisted throughout the entire week. Everyone in the hotel embodies genuine hospitality; you are always greeted with a smile and immediately sense that they enjoy working here. We were particularly impressed by how naturally and easily every request was taken care of. Whether it was morning, noon, or evening – we never felt like we were intruding, but always welcome. That's truly rare these days and impressed us greatly.
We could go into much more detail here, but on the one hand, it would probably get out of hand, and on the other, we don't want to forget anyone or anything who made our stay so special. So, simply this: Our vacation was characterized by a warmth that you can't plan or buy.
The hotel's weekly schedule is also particularly worthy of mention. There are always exciting and authentic offers that bring you even closer to the region, the host family, and the hotel. These offerings not only offer variety, but also give you the feeling of truly being part of something bigger. You get to know the country and its people in a natural way, and at the same time, you realize how passionate the hosts themselves are about their work and their homeland.
Here, a family understands what being a host means – far beyond what any book might describe. Complemented by a team that is visibly satisfied and motivated, a harmony is created that is rarely found. For us, this was precisely the reason why this vacation didn't feel like a normal hotel stay, but rather like a special time that we will remember for a long time.

Overall, I must say the hotel is exactly what I expected: an excellent location in the center of Tirolo and close to the center of Merano, easily accessible by public transportation or, for the more energetic, even on foot. The view from the hotel (both from the rooms and the restaurant and relaxation areas) is superb. Overall, everything is typical of Tyrolean standards and a good luxury hotel.
So, I'll just mention the negatives below:
1) Food
- Breakfast was excellent, especially the savory portion, but less so the sweet portion: it consisted of a homemade cake, some croissants and donuts, toast, and jams. There are no biscuits, and a more varied selection of homemade desserts could be a welcome addition.
- Dinner was excellent, with a generous buffet and a good wine list.
Both at breakfast and dinner, some information about the products offered was missing, and for the other items, there was no information in Italian.
2) Service
Another sore point here is the staff who don't speak any Italian. Let's face it, they speak a foreign language as their first language, but, given that you're on Italian soil, you should at least speak it as well as English or other languages you speak more fluently as a second language.
3) SPA
My advice for the spa is to have more staff to supervise and serve the pool and relaxation areas. In my opinion, a QR code placed on the tables to order something from the bar isn't enough (which I can do, by the way, but perhaps people less familiar with technology don't know how to use it). They need staff to keep those areas tidy, help customers if needed (even simply move umbrellas), and supervise the adults-only area, as I've often found children under 14 inside.
Otherwise, I'm satisfied.

This was our first, but certainly not our last, stay at the "Panoramahotel am Sonnenhang." We absolutely loved it! Especially the family atmosphere and the friendliness, from check-in to the service staff. And not to forget the fantastic spa area with indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the mountains.
A compliment also goes to the excellent cuisine. The dishes were superbly prepared and presented with a lot of heart and skill, from breakfast to dinner.
All in all, the food is outstanding, the service is very good, and the hosts are perfect.

After having been to Dorf Tirol several times, this time we wanted a hotel with a view over Meran. That's why we chose the Panoramahotel Am Sonnenhang. We were thrilled with the hotel from the first moment. Everything was simply perfect: starting with the friendliness of all the staff (!!!) through the tasteful and luxurious furnishings of the hotel, the exceptionally good and high-quality food and drinks, the beautiful outdoor areas, the (whirlpool) pools, saunas, the fitness room and the best location in the whole of Dorf Tirol. I can't stop raving. It was just great! I can only say that it's a stunningly beautiful hotel with world-class hosts and a top-notch team.
It was an unforgettable vacation, and the Amazing Suite with its mountain view is indescribably beautiful.
Both the staff at reception and Dominik at the bar made my arrival perfect with his friendliness and demeanor. You can tell that Dominik enjoys his work and interacting with guests.
I felt especially welcome with the welcome drink he gave me, and it made my arrival even more special.
The mountain view from room 803 was particularly beautiful; it was exactly as I had imagined it. I always wanted to look out at the mountains.
I would especially like to commend Biljana, who took wonderful care of me and provided world-class service. The table with a mountain view made every breakfast and dinner an experience, even when it rained.

Last week, my wife and I stayed at the "Panoramahotel am Sonnenhang" for the first time (but certainly not the last), and we were absolutely thrilled!
Sprawling across nearly 10 floors, with balconies, terraces, a bar, a restaurant, a spa, spacious rooms, stylish design, and an outdoor pool area, this architectural and structural marvel in itself is a remarkable feat of engineering. Opened in 2020, the complex nestles discreetly into the hillside on the outskirts of Dorftirol and manages to combine the seemingly incompatible:
An absolutely breathtaking view across the entire Merano Valley on the one hand, and an evening stroll through the picturesque village center on the other! This wonderful hotel is run by the Zagler family, along with their two daughters and the fantastic "Sonnenhang Crew," who make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive until your departure.

A very beautiful hotel with a view of the entire valley. There are three pools in total and a large relaxation area that I really liked for its cleanliness and tranquility. Both at breakfast and in the evening, the buffet is plentiful, rich, and varied, especially in the evenings, where it's always different. (Even the mini buffet for children changes every day, which is a good thing since it doesn't always have cutlets and fries, for example.) The staff is helpful and friendly, always ready to help. My only criticism is that, for greater comfort, hard pillows should be kept in the room, instead of having to ask every time. And, because of the heat, I had to ask for a fan, which was very dirty. Despite this, I really hope to return.

We spent 14 days here at the beginning of July, and the pictures we saw when we booked promised a lot. Our expectations were exceeded! Upon entering our room (on the hillside), we were immediately delighted. Everything was as we had seen it, even better. Everything was clean, and the apartments have everything you need in the kitchen. Cleaning is done discreetly and lovingly every day. Although the hotel is very busy, it's never crowded. Because there are so many cozy spots with loungers, pools, beds, etc., it's completely spread out, and you can spend hours lying alone somewhere and enjoying the view.
The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, and the service is always very friendly and welcoming. We also booked dinner several times, and the multi-course menu is truly fantastic.
You can feel completely at home here, whether as a family or without children. A fantastic hotel that really impressed us and put us in a good mood after a minor disappointment in Ravenna in 2023. I can recommend the hotel to everyone.

For those who love to relax, there's a chic spa area with everything you need, super-comfortable loungers and daybeds by the pools, in the relaxation rooms, and in the glass-enclosed "winter garden," where you can lounge wonderfully even in the sun and chilly temperatures.
For connoisseurs, there's culinary excellence at the highest level, no matter the time of day, service where almost anything is possible, and beauty treatments that leave nothing to be desired!

Our week-long vacation at the Panorama Hotel was fantastic. We had a family room, so our teenager could sleep in a separate room. The hotel is beautifully located, with a view to rave about. The reception, rooms, restaurant, bar, and wellness area are all decorated with attention to detail and exceptional taste.

If one really wanted to criticize something, three points stand out:
Unfortunately, there is NO smoking ban on the terrace. It can happen that you enjoy dinner in the restaurant with the windows open while ignorant hotel guests smoke a meter away. What a pity!
The equipment in the dark fitness room (no equipment or machines for weight training, just a dark room with a rack, a barbell, and a few weight plates) doesn't quite meet the standard of a ****S hotel.
The word "amazing" is used so often that it almost seems strange and forced.

As the name suggests, the hotel is situated in a stunning, sunny, panoramic location with a fantastic view of Merano and the Etsch Valley towards Naturno. Even beyond its location, the hotel lives up to its high standards (and the corresponding price level) in every respect; we felt very comfortable!
The hotel is centrally located in the beautiful village of Tirolo, with the Falconer's Promenade running directly below. The hotel is terraced on several levels on the hillside. In addition to the adult pool, there is also an indoor/outdoor pool with a separate baby pool, which is primarily used by families with children. Ultimately, everyone benefits from this layout, as children can have fun in the children's pool without having to pay too much attention to others. The indoor pool, however, is quite small.
The grounds also include a small playground, various sunbathing areas, a whirlpool, a table tennis table, and a rabbit hutch. Inside, there is a children's room, a room for teens with a game console, and a fitness room.
The rooms vary in furnishings and layout depending on the category. The slightly more expensive rooms are very modern and offer a great view from the balcony. The suites have a fully equipped kitchen.
We were also very impressed with the breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, there is a large selection of very good quality dishes, including freshly prepared egg dishes. At dinner, all the dishes were either good, very good, or excellent, some of them even truly creative! Only the children's buffet could be covered – they are chosen from above with a red light, which makes it difficult to see, and the pasta dries out quickly.
All in all, it was a truly lovely stay in an excellent hotel! What I would particularly like to highlight and what makes the stay more pleasant: there are no separate charges for every little thing. For example, the underground parking garage is included in the price, drinks are moderate, substitutions and extra orders for children at dinner are not charged extra, and the kitchen even provides dishwasher detergent.
If you are looking for a comfortable and family-friendly hotel with excellent food, the Hotel Sonnenhang is the right place for you!

As a family of five, it's often hard to find a suitable holiday accommodation that not only advertises but also delivers on the promise of pleasant experience suitable for larger families. After experiencing a fair share of Airbnb accommodations, which is always a smart alternative, we realized we’ve come to a point in our lives where a more complete package focused on relaxation and recovery is more important than a self-catered option.
For the second time in as many years, we visited the 'Panoramahotel Am Sonnenhang' in Dorf Tirol, a picturesque village situated in the hills above the historical spa town of Meran. Right from the moment of entering via a modern if not somewhat minimalistic and yet well-appointed reception area, you are surrounded with simple yet functional design that speaks to the owner's taste and appreciation of both modern and traditional styles. The extravagant wooden statues accentuated by the warm light of numerous Edison lamps hung around the hallways and corridors is just one of many thoughtful touches that make this modern hotel cozier and more livable than other, similar alternatives.
Complementing this is perhaps the most notable highlight that upon my observations tends is being undeservedly taken for granted from the hotel visitors and that id the Sonnenhang’s staff! From the cleaning and support staff, to the receptionist and concierge and finishing with the waiters and the cooks, not only is everyone exceedingly competent in what they do but their pleasant and sincere attitude towards guests is very refreshing compared to pretentious elitism so common in other similar establishments.
Experiencing the hotel and its wonderful staff speaks to the integrity and high ethical standards of the owner - Herr Stefan Zagler.
Venturing outside into the hotel’s pool area, we’ve got a breathtaking view over a vast valley with lush evergreen mountains and rows of vineyards running several miles on either sides. The pool terrace is smartly designed and offers both indoor and outdoor bathing options with thoughtful arrangements to accommodate both guests with children and clientele seeking undisturbed relaxation. A complex network of outdoor access points and stairs gets a little time to get used to but once mastered we were able to navigate in and around the complex with ease.
The hotel’s restaurant is spacious and offers options to cater for broad range of dining needs from regular functions to private areas, buffet and a bar. The pleasant, attentive and dedicated waiters and kitchen staff contribute to a wonderful dining experience that is matched only by the meals on offer that without exaggeration give the term "gourmet" a whole new meaning. Not only does the breakfast offer the expected assortment of breads, cereals, and cheeses, but the added bonus of the Grill Chef churning out fried creations and the constant supply of fresh local produce looked after by the attentive kitchen staff only make this a truly memorable experience. The dinners offer no smaller feats of culinary delights, adding creations and selections of wine that can easily pass a severe set of tests by Michelin critics.
What to say in conclusion?! Well, next time you’re looking for a place to relax and re-charge, give ‘Panoramahotel am Sonnenhang’ a serious look, you will not be disappointed!

The pool was also very pleasant.

The only thing is that the dinner menu is a bit difficult to manage with very young children. But that's not the hotel's fault. We were able to move our dinner to the room terrace in the evening without any problems.

It's truly beautiful here. Great location, beautiful, clean rooms with fantastic views, very friendly staff, fantastic leisure activities, and very, very good food.
The only minor drawback is the thin-walled suites. This may not be an issue in the main building, but I can't judge that because my room was outside the newer main building.
All in all, it was fantastic!

The hotel is perfect for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location. The facilities are very well maintained, the room was very comfortable, and had a lovely terrace with mountain views.

We (a family with two children under 10 years old) initially couldn't share the enthusiasm of the other reviews. On the day of our arrival, a few things went wrong in the restaurant and room service. So why the 5 stars? Because our criticism was addressed very quickly and professionally. Technical and human errors simply happen; you can't seriously blame anyone for that... The strength of a top-class hotel is actually reflected in how quickly, personally, seriously, and confidently such errors are dealt with.
Apart from that, we can only confirm the positive points of the other reviews (location, view, architecture, cuisine, staff, etc.). So, it was a wonderful stay after all, and we will definitely come back!

The Rooms and the view is really amazing. So clean and minimalistic style of the furniture. The view is amazing and so is the pool, the sauna and the outdoor. The staff was very friendly and as I am vegan the cook cooked an extra dish for me which I really appreciate (so for all vegans, this hotel is an amazing choice!!). The breakfast buffet was amazing too, fresh, local and really yummy.If you look for a calm place to spent your holidays, go for hikes, eat good food and enjoy the amazing views this hotel is the right place for you to go! You will jot regret it. Definitely going back:)

The stay was sensational. The resort, the breakfast, the dinner, and the responsiveness of the staff and family: simply PERFECT.
Only the other vacationers with their plug-in hybrids were constantly occupying the one wallbox for hours. Unfortunately, my battery-powered vehicle had to make do with a 230V socket in the corner. But that was simply due to the ego-driven guests.

- Our Family Amazing View Suite certainly didn't overdo it, judging by its name. A fantastic view! The suite's furnishings and spaciousness also met our taste and expectations perfectly.
- We enjoyed the pool area despite the outside temperatures.
- The food selection was excellent, both at the breakfast buffet and at dinner.
- The staff (from the reception, the restaurant staff, the childcare staff, and everyone else I forgot to mention) make it very easy to unwind, relax, and enjoy your stay to the fullest with their friendly manner.

The only thing to note is that the kids' area (with indoor and outdoor pools) quickly gets crowded and quite noisy when there are several children, and the adult-only pool is unfortunately very cold.

The hotel is simply perfect! There's something for all ages! There's a children's area and an adults-only area. The spa area is absolutely fantastic! Beautiful views and a truly relaxing experience. This is our second time here since the renovation, and it's amazing!

A very friendly welcome upon arrival! You feel welcome from the very first second. The room was very nice on the 8th floor, with a fantastic view over Merano. Everything was excellent at breakfast, and vegetarians and vegans were even catered for. The evening menu was varied and delicious, a taste experience! A small note: we would have liked a change at the breakfast buffet on Sundays, instead of marble cake every day; there's definitely room for improvement... The staff was incredibly accommodating and professional! Perfect hotel! We're looking forward to next year!

The location in the village is uniquely quiet and central. It's family-run, with very friendly staff, family-friendly, and service-oriented. The apartments are very well-equipped (some with a garden or terrace). The breakfast room and the outdoor facilities with pool are fantastic.
