Everything was perfect!
The rooms are spacious, impeccably maintained, and spotlessly clean.
At breakfast, there are delicious egg dishes, freshly prepared.

The excellent Saltauserhof Hotel, which historically belonged to the Masi dello Scudo (Shield Farms) ️, allowed us to discover a beautiful area of the Passiria Valley, rich in history, traditions, and hikes in the surrounding mountains! Everything here is superb, immersed in history in a historic setting. Taking the cable car takes you up to the mountains, offering beautiful hikes!
The excellent cuisine and more than good service mean we will gladly return. We thank you for the hospitality we received and for the beautiful room we were able to stay in.

An extraordinarily beautiful, incomparably comfortable, and very clean hotel. The friendly staff is heavenly. The breakfast buffet is so extensive that it leaves nothing to be desired. Half board includes a generous salad buffet and five courses with a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options: exquisite dishes (it must be a Michelin-starred chef!). This hotel is simply magnificent.

We were able to enjoy a 13-day vacation at this hotel. Initially, things didn't go smoothly, and we weren't satisfied with the room we'd booked, the dining room, or the location. However, the management was uncomplicated and very accommodating, so we were able to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing vacation after all! Thank you so much again for that!
The food was varied and excellent, of a high standard; the extensive breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. (Nuts might have been an option.) The extremely friendly and attentive (service) staff was a delight!

The massage and facial treatment were also very soothing and performed excellently.
What you need to know: This is a very dog-friendly hotel. If you don't want this, you'll have to find another hotel...
The apartments are about 300 meters from the hotel, and there's a gradient of about 13%. Not always pleasant, especially when eating. But the food was so delicious...
There are different dining rooms. Not all of them may suit the guest's taste. Talking about it can help...

Very friendly ladies at the reception, a wonderful, large, and quiet room in the hotel with a view of the beautiful outdoor pool. The food is simply amazing; I definitely think it deserves a Michelin-star award! But I especially appreciate the friendliness, humor, and competence of the service staff: Kurt, Defki, aka Brudi, and Werner.

I stayed for five days with my family, taking two rooms for four because I love comfort. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back ️. The only negative was having to ask the cleaning lady every morning if she would leave us an extra roll of toilet paper because there was always only one. On the second to last day, I even didn't find the bathrobes in the room after cleaning, I thought she had forgotten to put clean ones back... But alas, I found them on the balcony drying... This is unthinkable from a 4-star hotel. Everything else is wonderful, the friendliness of the waiters in the restaurant is unmatched ️️. The reception is very attentive to customers, the exceptional location... I can't wait to return ️️

We spent a wonderful vacation here with our child and dog.
Great, very friendly service, incredibly delicious food, and a perfectly maintained pool area. However, the hotel's location and the fact that it's not a new building could have been better, with a superb indoor pool with a whirlpool and a lovely outdoor pool. Our dog accompanies us almost everywhere, and you can take him for a walk right from the hotel.
We had the Vital Suite, which is new, very modern, and stylishly furnished. Highly recommended.
The food was superb. Everything was well thought out and stylishly presented. The pastry chef, Kay Baumgardt, is a master of his craft, and the chef is an absolute expert. A real treat. The entire service team is always attentive and willing to listen to all your requests.
The location on the street is just what it is. You don't get any of that in the room, and the comfortable beds round it all off.
There are a few minor things here and there, but they don't spoil the overall picture at all. We'll definitely be back.

We stayed here for 10 days. We were very satisfied. Always friendly and accommodating, whether it was room service, the bar, or the food. The fitness center and wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools are top-notch. Rooms in the main building are cheaper, but they're noisy due to the street and lack air conditioning. Dogs are welcome in the hotel, but you don't notice them in the daily hustle and bustle. The elevator and bus stop are right outside. If you don't want to stress about parking, you can park in a relaxed manner just 100 meters away.

Forward-looking and extremely friendly service, a fantastic location on the Passer River and at the edge of the forest for dog owners, and dogs are warmly welcome in the hotel. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, and the staff is impeccable from start to finish. The food is 10 out of 10.

Room (122) was very simple, but clean. The bathroom needed renovation. The grout in the shower was unappealing; the tiles had simply been painted over. The old, worn-out innerspring mattresses were simply unacceptable.
It's a shame, this room doesn't fit in with the rest of the hotel at all.

We had a great week at the hotel.
Our room was fantastic in the new extension. Despite being right on the street, it was quite quiet.
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely amazing!
Saltaus, unfortunately, doesn't have much to offer, and the through traffic is pretty heavy.
On the other hand, the bus stop is right outside the front door and can be used free of charge with the guest card.
The same goes for the Hirzer cable car, but unfortunately, there was no discount with the guest card.
We had our dog with us and were warmly welcomed at the hotel.
Unfortunately, you always have to walk quite a distance from the hotel, even for a quick walk.
I would definitely recommend the hotel

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt im Saltauserhof, genauer in der dazugehörigen Panorama Residence. Unser Apartment war sehr groß, sauber und ruhig gelegen. Etwa 300 m bergab befindet sich der Schildhof, wo es Frühstück und Abendessen gab. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr vielfältig, zudem gab es täglich frisch zubereitete Eivariationen. Es war alles da, was das Herz begehrt und immer frisch und lecker. Auch das 4 Gänge Menü abends war durchweg sehr gut, wir hatten tatsächlich nie ein Gericht, was nicht geschmeckt hat. Die Portionsgröße ist tendenziell eher etwas klein, was aber für den Standard in Ordnung ist. Man wird in Summe auf jeden Fall satt. Die Kellner sind sehr freundlich und stets aufmerksam. Natürlich merkt man hier den Unterschied zwischen den "alten Hasen" und den Nachwuchs, was aber völlig normal und unproblematisch ist. Ganz toll war zudem das kostenlose Wine Tasting, was täglich angeboten wird. Ein nettes Angebot, was man nicht überall findet.
In einigen Kritiken wurde die Mitnahme von Hunden ins Restaurant als negativ ausgelegt. Dies sehe ich komplett gegenteilig. Thankfully, the days when dogs were associated with dirt and therefore had no place at the table are over. The atmosphere was always calm and relaxed, and the dogs weren't a nuisance in the slightest. I also appreciated that there were hardly any children here outside of the school holidays, so there was no noise from running and shouting. A fully adults-only policy would definitely be appropriate here.
We had a wonderful stay and are looking forward to coming back next year.

A very nice hotel located in an old manor house. We have been regular guests for many years. There have recently been some positive changes. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The new room was excellent, and the cuisine is absolutely top-notch. The fifth star in the overall rating was only withheld because the sauna area has room for improvement.

A beautifully renovated, historic building. A very relaxing hotel (at least if you have a room away from the street like we did) right on the main street.
The food was fantastic; huge praise to the kitchen team! Some of the dishes/side dishes or combinations were unusual and didn't need a single bit of extra seasoning.
All the service staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful, also excellent!
No question went unanswered at the reception, and here too, everyone was always cheerful and very helpful.
We felt very comfortable and will definitely be back.
Tip: The Maiser Waalweg (Waal Trail) starts almost directly at the hotel and is beautiful about 400 meters from the Apfelhotel.

Wir wollten eigentlich die Vital-Suite, wurden dann aber auf die neuen Wohneinheiten etwa 150 m oberhalb des Hauptgebäudes "umgeleitet". Wir mussten für die grösseren Zimmer keinen Aufpreis bezahlen.
Diese Wohnungen sind gross und sehr modern eingerichtet. Unseres hatte ein Sprudelbad auf dem Balkon. Dennoch, ich würde wieder lieber ein Zimmer im Hauptgebäude nehmen (dazu müsste aber das Parkplatzproblem gelöst werden).
Das Essen (im Huptgebäude) ist sehr gut. Die Auswahl ist auch gut (zumindest für uns "Normalessende"; Veganer könnten zu einem anderen Schluss kommen).

The downsides were: the room was completely different in size and layout than what we booked (it said 80 square meters, but if it was 50 square meters, it would have been too much); the Italian TV couldn't work; there were Mediaset channels, but the signal was poor; the parking lot was a complete disaster; they even called us to move our car to accommodate another guest; the garage was inaccessible. The positives were definitely the restaurant; the food was excellent, and the restaurant staff were very friendly and courteous.

Drinks are a bit pricey, but there's a great wine selection. The terrace could use a refresh. It's not very appealing for such a lovely hotel. The chair covers, the rippled flooring, and the awning desperately need replacing. The hotel is right next to the road, but that didn't bother me. It's well-connected by bus and right next to the gondola. You receive the South Tyrol Card upon arrival. Overall, I can recommend this hotel. We'd love to come back.

We were able to spend a few wonderful days at the Hotel Saltauserhof. The welcome from the nice lady was very warm and you immediately felt valued. The dinner is absolutely TOP! The morning buffet is very good and has something for every taste. The service is impeccable. The rooms in the old building are a little older but okay. The shower needs to be redone. The indoor pool feels “cold” and the two whirlpools are usually well occupied. What bothered us were the Corona posters from 2020, which are now rather out of place. Someone should take a fresh look and uncover the “blind spots”.
The small downside was the e-bike rental through the hotel. Unfortunately we didn't receive the right bikes. The young gentleman wanted to ask the landlord and inform us. Unfortunately we didn't receive any feedback and the old price was still there when we checked out.
We were very satisfied and will recommend you to others.

Very nice hotel. The rooms are well furnished and always clean. The food is fantastic and has a great selection, especially dinner! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Depending on which room you have, the traffic on the street can be a bit annoying, but there is significantly less traffic at night. Parking spaces are somewhat limited. Here you should use the underground car park for a small surcharge, where the car is perfectly dry and safe. The parking spaces are a bit tight, but those who can park will be able to cope with that. All in all we had a really nice stay.

This was our third time staying at the Saltauserhof.
The location, directly next to the Hirzer cable car, is very comfortable. The room was spacious and renovated. There is a refrigerator in the room, but it was empty. A bottle of water would have been nice.
Unfortunately, the hotel has declined in quality and service over the course of our visits.
Towels were missing, the beds for our children weren't made up, and the bathrobes were missing and very worn. Moreover, they were only available in size XL (not a big deal, but could be better).
Breakfast was good, but the selection was significantly smaller than in previous years. The four-course menu was okay. The service is clearly lacking in staff. The waiters are friendly but rushed and refer us to the support staff, some of whom speak neither English nor German.
We were particularly bothered by the fact that tap water is bottled in glass and charged at €5. We weren't even offered wine, so we can't share any experience. The wellness area is okay but could use a duster here and there. The pool in the garden is nice, but the indoor pool smelled strongly of chlorine for our taste, as did the whirlpool.
In summary, the price-performance ratio is no longer right here.

We've stayed here several times. The bus stop to Merano or the Passeier Valley is right outside. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, and the five-course dinner is excellent. There are rooms in both an old building and a new building. We spent one night there with half board in the old building. Everyone should be aware that the hotel is located directly on the street and is therefore noisy, especially from motorcycles. For a longer stay in South Tyrol, I would personally prefer a quieter hotel. Since the hotel has a lot of rooms, I also don't recommend it if you're looking for peace and quiet. We were lucky that Germany was playing after our check-in, so we were able to spend a very quiet hour in the outdoor pool. That would have been impossible otherwise. The food and breakfast (really everything you can imagine) were very good. The service was consistently friendly.
I would like to point out two things that we found extremely annoying. Therefore, my 4 stars are truly generous: the wine prices at dinner are completely unacceptable. It's a disgrace to charge €39 for the cheapest bottle. When we asked for a house wine, we were told it was also €39. Despite half-board, we paid another €65 for a bottle of wine, two beers, and a bottle of water, and would have preferred to eat out at another restaurant.
The second issue is the covered outdoor terrace. It was about 30 degrees outside, and even though we said when booking and checking in that we absolutely wanted to sit outside, they initially wanted to seat us in the middle of this stuffy, covered winter garden. However, we were immediately offered another table on the terrace below. It was really lovely! I would recommend everyone not to sit on this covered outdoor terrace, because it's a real disgrace. Stuffy, loud, unromantic, dirty awning... The hotel urgently needs to renovate it. I felt really sorry for the people who had to sit there.

We spent nine days at the Saltauserhof and were thrilled. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome; I must say this applies to everyone who works there, regardless of who they are – everyone was incredibly friendly.
We had an apartment that was fully equipped. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The food was fantastic, starting with breakfast – nothing was lacking. Dinner was another amazing experience – a five-course meal that was simply divine. We ate dishes we would never have ordered otherwise. The kitchen is superb. There was a salad buffet beforehand with a huge selection; anyone who can't find something they like there should probably just stay home. We'll definitely be back.
The bus stop is right around the corner. There are also plenty of hiking opportunities.

Beautiful hotel in the Passeier Valley to relax and enjoy!
The Saltauser Hof is located in Saltaus right next to the valley station of the Hirzer cable car. The hotel has two areas, the old Schildhof and the Residenz, with different well-equipped room categories. Two apartment buildings a little further up town are relatively new. There is also a beautiful outdoor and indoor pool, a whirlpool, several hot tubs, wellness treatments, several saunas, a beautiful wine cellar, a fitness room and several terraces for dining as well as with great views of the valley and the mountains. There is a rich buffet selection for breakfast and dinner is always a highlight with several freshly prepared courses. The service is friendly and attentive.
Many hikes can be started from the hotel, both into the mountains and along the Passer. Bicycles can be rented to easily get to Merano, for example. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel you can go rafting on the river, but also tandem paraglider flights from the Hirzer massif.
So far so good and therefore a 5-star rating. Nevertheless, 2 points of criticism, which should not detract from the overall rating:
When eating on the terrace it can be very loud and therefore disruptive if large groups are seated there. Unfortunately, this happened several times and is not appropriate for the hotel. Perhaps it would be better to place such groups together in one of the rooms in the Schildhof to eat in order to ensure an appropriate atmosphere for the other guests?
And a note to the operator: It would be appropriate if the numerous reviews, be they positive or critical, were addressed. In the age of social media, it is out of time for operators not to comment on anything. You can do it, but it doesn't suit the hotel and especially the requirement to be close to the guests. Bad food in South Tyrol - no problem here!
If anyone thinks you can't have bad food in South Tyrol, they should visit the Salthauser Hof. This officially four-star hotel, but in reality an older, over-renovated establishment that has seen its best days, is located directly on the main road through the Passeier Valley and "shines" with poor cuisine on the half-board basis.
Entering and exiting the hotel is truly risky every time and would be impossible without mirrors on the opposite side of the road.
The hotel consists of several buildings, some renovated, some not. The spa area, unfortunately, isn't either and is of the 1980s standard.
The neighboring Torglerhof, which we visited twice for coffee on our walks, demonstrates that you can get much better for the same price. It seemed wonderfully modern, and the service and food were truly top-notch.

Special mention must go to Mr. Kurt, our head waiter, whose expertise and wine knowledge were second to none. The value for money was excellent. A very charming little hotel located right next to the Hirzer cable car. We spent five days here and were very satisfied. Although the rooms are a bit dated, everything was very clean, the staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, and the food was excellent. Free bicycle rental and tennis courts are also among the hotel's great services.

We stayed at the Saltauser Hof again for two days in mid-July. A lot has changed since our previous visit, as the hotel has been expanded and modernized. The rooms are excellent, the food is just as good as it always was, and the restaurant is of a very high standard. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff also leaves nothing to be desired. In fact, almost everything was perfect. However, there was one drawback: at breakfast and dinner, we were constantly surrounded by at least five dogs, which we felt was inappropriate for a four-star hotel, especially since there are three covered and glassed-in outdoor terraces. It would have been easy to seat guests with dogs at the tables on the front terrace and keep the back terrace dog-free. This would have had the advantage that someone with a dog wouldn't have to walk through all the rows of tables if their dog needed to go outside for any reason. We no longer have a dog ourselves, but we are still dog-friendly and even stayed at the Saltauser Hof with our dog years ago. Back then, we were asked to leave the terrace and had to sit in a separate area near the bar inside the house or leave the dog in the room. We had to accept this out of consideration at the time, and that's why it seems strange to us that now, without a dog, one feels as if one is in a special dog hotel.

A 4-star review as a prelude to a 5-star rating, perhaps for the next time we'll be staying at the Saltauserhof.
Pros: The property has an old-world charm; the front desk is punctual, precise, friendly, and helpful; the outdoor pool is nestled in a peaceful, green corner; the cuisine is exceptionally refined and exquisite; the hotel is close to the (adjacent) cable car that takes you up for excursions. The Passirio cycle path is right at the foot of the property, where there are also two clay tennis courts (court and equipment are free).
Cons: The room has no air conditioning... a fan is more than a guesthouse, not a 4-star hotel; the prices of drinks in the restaurant are truly exorbitant (almost 5 euros for a mineral water bottle and wines with an average price of 40 euros); very limited outdoor parking (there is indoor parking available for 5 euros per day); The location of Saltauserhof, a town with a registered population of 350 but actually even fewer, doesn't have a bell tower, a square, and only one clothing store and newsstand... for a stroll, it's worth traveling further, at least to San Martino, where a few people live in the few houses.
In conclusion, despite the flaws, which are absolutely fixable, I liked the Saltauserhof and the holiday was very pleasant. I recommend it for a TRUE mountain and gourmet experience, where perhaps you'll drink your wine elsewhere. I thank the management for the assistance I received following an unexpected injury to my wife while cycling. Next summer, it will be our first choice for a mountain holiday.

We spent two wonderful weeks at the SALTAUSERHOF Hotel in Saltaus.
A highlight: dogs are welcome.
The hotel delighted us. Its location in the heart of the mountains, its magnificent 12th-century manor house, the terraces where we were served breakfast and dinner, and all the amenities offered made for an excellent stay.
From the moment we arrived, we found a beautiful, exceptional setting and were very well received. The staff is extremely welcoming and attentive, attentive to our every need. A special thank you to Kurt, your maître d'hôtel.
As for the meals, they rival those of fine restaurants. The breakfast buffet is of excellent quality, delighting us from the very beginning of the morning with fresh fruit, jams, several varieties of bread, an assortment of cold meats and cheeses, eggs prepared according to your request and desires, fruit juices, yogurts, coffee, tea, or herbal teas. Dinner begins with a varied salad buffet where everyone can find something to their liking, followed by five succulent courses. On Friday evenings, we were treated to a Gala Dinner, accompanied by an orchestra.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, and the staff is welcoming and helpful. We had a beautiful 40 m² room with a large bathroom. From the balcony, we had a view of the mountains and the cable car that takes you to the summit at 2,000 meters, the starting point for hikers and paragliders. A bus stop is also located next to the hotel, allowing you to explore the region without having to take your car. We highly recommend this wonderful hotel, which will delight you.

A wonderful hotel in South Tyrol, not far from Merano. The food alone is worth a stay. You feel welcome from the very first moment and are treated as if you were a guest for the 15th time. The friendliness of the entire staff is unparalleled. The bus stop and a cable car are right next to the hotel, so you can enjoy your activities completely car-free. The only minor drawback is the lack of air conditioning, but this is easily overlooked given the overall picture.
I highly recommend it for a vacation in South Tyrol, or even just for three days to enjoy the wonderful cuisine.

A lovely hotel, somewhat secluded in the Passeier Valley, with excellent cuisine. Located right next to the Hirzer cable car, it's a great starting point for hikes in the Hirzer mountains. Parking is limited when the hotel is full. Similarly, not all guests were able to get a table for dinner inside and had to eat outside. The children's menu is limited, but many items can be ordered without extra charge. The spa and pool area is beautiful. The rooms, some of which have been recently renovated, are top-notch, as is the service. All in all – highly recommended!

Everything in the restaurant is also tip top.

The value for money is excellent. Parking is available outside the hotel or in the hotel's own underground garage. It's located directly next to the Hirzer cable car and the forest path, for example, to Merano. The only drawback: the hotel is located directly on the busy main road, with virtually no sidewalk—in a narrow spot.

Unfortunately, we were woken up in the morning by the cleaning staff - they couldn't see our sign - they didn't turn on the light in the hallway.

Overall a good hotel, but we won't be coming back. The food and service in the restaurant are really great. Breakfast and dinner are simply sensational. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by several things: on the last day, we had to change our hotel room; the shower smelled very unpleasant, the furniture and dishes were damaged, and the parking space was very tight (our car was damaged). During dinner, we repeatedly noticed a large family sitting in the middle of the room (people talking loudly on the phone at the table, a large dog being fed from the table, children screaming loudly, etc.). In my opinion, that's unacceptable and the hotel simply tolerated it. Despite the great food, we didn't feel comfortable, and neither did many of the other guests. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant; we generally don't have a problem with that; it was just very crowded and there was no room at all for all the dogs.

Overall, we unfortunately have to say that the price and the star rating are unjustified for us. After waking up with terrible back pain after the first night, we complained to reception about the beds. The mattresses are completely worn out (we're probably not the first guests to complain about this, as can be seen from the recent reviews), so you can't help but get sore (despite only weighing 80 kg as a man). We were promised that the mattresses would be replaced, as a delivery of new mattresses would arrive during the following day. Nothing happened the following day; when we inquired, we received an annoyed response that the mattresses hadn't arrived yet and that they would get back to us. Unfortunately, nothing further happened here, no response whatsoever.
The cuisine and the service during the meal are absolutely top-notch! A very fine selection of dishes, fantastic desserts, you can feel the love for the food. They also carefully cater to any food intolerances.

The hotel offers everything you could need: sauna, indoor pool, outdoor pool, whirlpool, fitness center, and much more.
The Hirzerbahn valley station is located right next door. The gondolas take you up to almost 2,000 meters in two stages. From there, you can embark on beautiful hikes.

We stayed with our dog and three adults in an apartment in the new Panorama Residence. The apartment was beautifully furnished and clean. The apartments are cleaned daily, and the cleaning staff are very friendly. Underground parking is included, as is a lovely outdoor pool and a sauna, although there is no relaxation room. For breakfast and dinner, we walk down the hill to the hotel, about 300 meters, and quite a bit of an elevation gain. We really enjoyed the food; there are always three main courses to choose from (meat, fish, or vegetarian). The fish was always particularly delicious. The breakfast buffet is extensive, although it can get a bit crowded at the various stations. Food intolerances were catered for excellently; we haven't experienced such accommodating service at any other hotel. The fact that our dog was allowed to sit at/under the table with us during meals was great for us. Other guests, however, weren't so keen, even though we have a very sweet and calm dog.

The four of us spent a long weekend in the new extension. This is above 30 meters above sea level from the main hotel. A road leads up and has to be navigated to every meal etc. You can also drive, but there are usually few spaces available in the parking lot in front of the restaurant.
Overall, we can give it 3 stars in good conscience because we assume a high standard based on the price, rooms and food. Many little things reduce the overall impression but let's start on a positive note.
Note: since we traveled at Pentecost, the hotel was fully booked. In addition, due to COVID or other circumstances, some of the contrarian topics may otherwise be assessed differently.
Per:
- New extension, fully 4*, only indoor pool is missing.
- Nice cleaning staff, very accommodating
- Sauna in the annex of high quality and appropriate to the size of the occupancy of the annex. Unfortunately there is no relaxation room.
- Underground parking in the extension is modern and easy access to the rooms
Cons
- The restaurant has very poor air conditioning. Hot temperatures are unbearable under the closed awning. The staff regrets but gives no solution.
- We skipped two dinners which resulted in only €10 credit per person
- If you skip dinner, be sure to check the bill too. There is no feedback from the restaurant to the reception. (Even confirmed by reception)
- The old wellness area, here also with an indoor pool, is no longer adapted to the 4* segment.
- Despite the good weather, the indoor and outdoor bathrooms were overcrowded. There is little (except 1.5m2 space) for guests of the annex to change clothes or store things. Note from the staff, please park your car in the TG in your swimming costume. This has an entrance into the pool.
- Due to the number of guests, everything is very crowded and there is no peace and quiet.
- We found, and this is certainly our personal opinion. The basement, pool area and parking garage are not lovingly furnished. Everything is certainly practically geared towards the mass of guests.
- We had booked a massage, every 30 minutes we get a 15 minute massage.
- We are not used to children but expect them as a 4* hotel offers areas for children. This is even partly the case here. In the basement there is a room for children of all ages. However, this leads through a dark corridor (motion detector) and is so far away from the restaurant that a parent must always be on site. The staff who responded to the alarm could not do anything about it.
- The restaurant doesn't offer anything for children and due to the high occupancy you can quickly become a nuisance.
- Dinner is ok, but we were missing that certain something or regional. Certainly a mass problem. Certainly sufficient for certain target groups.
- The breakfast buffet is sufficient. Unfortunately, the staff is significantly overloaded during Pentecost. Eggs are made fresh upon request but the line is too long. Scrambled eggs and bacon are available at the buffet, but not available on 2 out of 4 days. Same with the fruit and cake counter. But the quality is good.

We booked here based on the great reviews and are disappointed. We don't understand the hype surrounding this hotel.
The rooms are large and clean, but also very noisy. The mattresses were so worn that you could feel every single spring in your back.
After we complained, they were replaced, but one mattress was smaller than the other. The remaining gap was filled with bed linen.
4-star standard? Not really.
The food had its ups and downs and was okay, but nothing more. If you wanted something "special," it cost extra.
The cleanliness in the large dining areas also left a lot to be desired, especially since this is a dog-friendly hotel and there were sometimes up to 15 dogs at and under the tables during dinner.
The only staff who truly deserve full marks are the room and service staff.

The hotel is well worth it...a dinner with refined flavors and a plentiful breakfast. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The large, uncrowded pool is second to none...the indoor one is equally beautiful, everything is lovely. But...there are some flaws that detracted from our stay. The children's menu is very limited and always the same 7 days a week...among them, packet fries paired with chicken nuggets that are often a little burnt. Pasta dishes are always the same...either plain pasta with a completely bland flavor or pasta with meat sauce...gourmet portions that are extremely small and not suitable for children around 10 years old! One of the last nights I asked for a slice of grilled meat as an "alternative" for my daughter, and it was truly excellent...but I'm not the one who should ask for a change in the children's food! Honestly, there's little attention paid to the little ones in this regard. Some rooms have fold-out sofas for children, but unfortunately, they're really uncomfortable for them to sleep on. The large TV gets very few Italian channels, and cartoons are excluded. A small refrigerator in the room wasn't cooling anything. They told me they'd fix it. The next day, it still wasn't working. I called back and was told the technician wouldn't be there for a few days, but they could replace it. I'm not the one who should call back to request a repair; the hotel should get back to me immediately and fix everything. Let's just say that, considering the hotel's high standard, I wasn't expecting these imperfections.

We always enjoy coming back to the Saltauserhof. Delicious food, great service, and a very special ambiance thanks to the unique Schildhof. The spacious rooms are comfortably furnished and always clean.
The location is perfect for a hike from the Hirzer cable car or a trip to other parts of South Tyrol or other towns. If you don't want to drive, you can take the bus. The stop is right next to the hotel.
A beautiful wellness area with pools, various saunas, and a steam bath ensures relaxation after the hike.

The first thing that comes to mind is that we felt pampered. A wonderful property surrounded by greenery, just around the corner from the cable car that takes you high up into the beautiful woods waiting to be explored. Naturally, the routes are all marked. Free bikes to ride along the river in pristine nature. Breakfast was rich in local products, dinner was prepared with meticulous attention to detail and, of course, delicious. The staff was incredibly sweet and always attentive and available to meet guests' needs. Large, clean rooms.

I can only say one thing: we are thrilled.
Top:
- No problem with a dog; you feel welcome and can go everywhere with your dog (except the wellness area).
- The food is excellent.
- Any changes to the food are accommodated; for example, it was no problem to provide meat-free alternatives for meat-based dishes.
- The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating.
- The manager personally visits every evening during dinner and actively manages guest relations.
- A top-notch wellness area, outdoor pool, and indoor pool.
- Super clean rooms with a wonderful view.
- You can leave your car parked for many activities.
The only drawback is the sometimes high prices for drinks. But that's just nitpicking.

Very well-maintained hotel. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and refined dinner. The outdoor pool is wonderful, and the spa is also worth a visit. It's very close to the cable car for easy access to the mountains. Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience many of the mountain trails in just a few days.

A wonderful family-run hotel. The Pirchers have managed to renew themselves over the years, always maintaining their Tyrolean tradition and style. The spa is exceptional, with saunas, hot tubs, hammam, indoor and outdoor pools, and a well-equipped gym. I've stayed here at various times and have always found both the suite and the annex to be spotless. The breakfast buffet is amazing, offering a wide selection of sweet and savory options.
Lunch and dinner are rich in local produce. The staff is attentive and very courteous.

Besonders hervorheben möchten wir allerdings den Service und die Küche. Die Essen waren nicht nur sehr, sehr gut im Geschmack, sondern wurden auch mit so viel Liebe und Engagement angerichtet - das war schon "Sterne-mäßig"
Das Team vom Service war immer freundlich und hat uns quasi alle Wünsche erfüllt, so dass wir wirklich alle begeistert sind.

Wir sind absolut begeistert vom Hotel Saltauserhof! Das Personal, ob Kellner, Putzfrauen und auch die Hotelleitung war super freundlich und absolut zuvorkommend-immer ein nettes Wort auf den Lippen und stets darum bemüht dem Gast einen absolut sorgenfreien Urlaub zu bereiten. Die Zimmer wurden immer einwandfrei gereinigt. Unsere Putzfrau war sogar so aufmerksam sich direkt am 2. Tag zu merken, wann wir gewöhnlich zum Frühstück gehen so dass es danach schon sauber war-sehr flexibel und toll! Die Kellner ließen keine Wünsche offen: gleich am 2. Tag brauchten wir keinen Kakao mehr bestellen, unsere Bedienung hat gesehen, dass wir am Tisch sitzen und uns direkt ohne Worte mit Kakao versorgt.
Das Essen war absolut klasse!!! Jeden Tag ein 5-Gänge-Menü mit teilweiser Wahlmöglichkeit bei den einzelnen Gängen-alles sehr lecker und ein Augenschmaus was das Anrichten betrifft! Das Salatbuffet war sehr abwechslungsreich; nichts, was es nicht gab. Außerdem konnte man sich zum Frühstück aus allen möglichen Obst- und Gemüsesorten jeden beliebigen Saft frisch pressen.
Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer gebucht, das sehr geräumig war. Im Bad gab es auch keinerlei Einschränkungen, da es zwei Waschbecken und eine große Badewanne gab.

Perfect. The atmosphere is very welcoming, with competent, friendly, and well-trained staff. The furnishings are tasteful and highly functional, all in typical Trentino style. The rooms are very spacious, with equally spacious bathrooms. The large terrace, decorated with stunning red geraniums, offers a stunning view of the mountains. The brand-new 56-inch LCD TV is also available. Regarding the food, the breakfast is excellent, with an abundance of delicious traditional dishes. Dinner always features a buffet of salads, appetizers, and a selection of cheeses, plus delightful table service for the delicious, elegantly presented, traditional main courses. The hotel features two swimming pools—one indoor saltwater pool and one outdoor pool—two outdoor hot tubs, three saunas, and a Turkish bath in the relaxation area. The hotel offers a fully equipped gym, which is included in the price, as well as a tennis court (available upon reservation), and bicycles for excursions. The cable car station is just steps from the hotel, and with the "guest card" provided by the hotel, you can receive a small discount to reach 2,000 meters. Perhaps the only flaw is the mattresses, which are a bit low and not particularly comfortable for my taste.

Die perfekte Lage ermöglichte uns Shopping in Meran, Biken mit den gratis Hotel-Bikes und Wandern, so wie der tolle Wellnessbereich den wir am Abend noch genossen. A very beautiful and well-maintained, family-run hotel with excellent cuisine and a lovely spa area. The rooms are exceptionally large and beautifully furnished. The renovated rooms are particularly great: modern with lots of wood, you immediately feel at home in them. Getting to Merano or Tirolo is also very easy and quick. This is important because Saltaus doesn't have much to offer in the evenings. This is certainly what makes the hotel so good value for money. I've been there several times and can highly recommend the Saltauserhof.

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and decorated in a country style, and the pool area is lovely (outdoor and indoor pools, whirlpools, sauna, etc.). Good starting point for excursions to the Hirzer as it is right next to the cable car. The only flaw in my stay was that the room was close to the stairs and therefore a little noisy. We didn't tell the reception because it was still acceptable.

We spent a week here with our extended family. I've rarely felt as comfortable and cared for as I did here. Hospitality is a top priority. The half-board was delicious, and the food was lovingly prepared.
Delicious wines, and the service is perfectly trained.

The rooms are spacious, welcoming, and decorated in a traditional style.

Nur zu empfehlen!!! Klasse Personal, jeder Wunsch wird von den Augen gelesen. Familienbetrieb: 1A !!!! (3Generationen) -sowas gibt es nur noch selten! Alle arbeiten zusammen und der Gast fühlt sich sehr wohl. Die Zimmer, Stuben, Kinderwelt, Pool......einfach alles TOP!!! Der Koch zaubert Speisen, Wahnsinn!!! Wir kommen wieder 😎☺😉😁

Der Urlaub hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und sehr nett. Die Auswahl am Frühstücksbuffet und Vorspeisenbuffett am Abend war sehr gut und reichhaltig. Das Menu hat uns immer geschmeckt und auch hier war die Auswahl sehr gut. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und viel Schränke vorhanden und das Bad war auch sehr groß.

A very good hotel, the location is satisfactory. Walking is difficult due to the main road. However, the advantage is that there is a cable car right next to the hotel, which offers a beautiful view. The rooms are large and comfortable, everything is very clean, very nicely furnished, everyone is very friendly, the food is excellent, the service staff is very friendly and accommodating. The wellness area and surrounding area offer plenty of options to ensure you won't get bored on your vacation. Very nice! That was at the beginning of October 2017.

Wir hatten nur freundliches Personal, überaus liebevoller Umgang untereinander,der Chef kam zwei mal täglich an unserenTisch er fragte ob irgendein Anliegen wäre.Der Zimmerservice war freundlich und sehr sauber.Das Essen spitze geschmackvoll abgeschmeckt alles nur vom feinsten .Das Wellnessangebot genial,wir waren begeistert und kommen bestimmt wieder es wurde auf alle Allergiker eingegangen alle Sonderwünsche konnten erfüllt werden.Eine Eins für dieses Hotel.

Klasse Personal vom Fach!!! Chef ist immer mit einem Lachen vor Ort und fragt bei den Gästen nach ob alles in Ordnung ist oder ob etwas besser gemacht werden kann!! Die Kellner sind Superklasse!!! Immer gut gelaunt und sehr um das Wohlergehen der Gäste bemüht!!! Die Weinkarte sowie das Essen!!! Echt klasse! Große Zimmer die geschmackvoll eingerichtet sind!!

A beautiful place, clean and tidy, as were the rooms. The food was delicious. The indoor pool was lovely, with a sauna nearby. I loved going to the outdoor pool because it has a wonderful view. There's also a play area for children. The waiters were all polite, kind, and friendly! It was worth coming to this beautiful hotel!

Wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Zimmer sind sehr komfortabel, es gibt einen tollen Fitnessraum, ein Hallenbad mit Whirlpool und einen Aussenpool. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr reichhaltig und wir haben unseren Kellner gefragt, ob bei ihnen ein Sternekoch angestellt ist - das Menu am Abend war erstklassig!!!!

Der Aufenthalt im Saltauserhof war für uns Erholung pur. Wir bekamen zum selben Preis ein grösseres Zimmer, das Personal war sehr freundlich, obschon es Ende Saison war und das Hotel in 1 Woche schliesst. Das Essen war super und auch der Wellnessbereich war für unsere Ansprüche top. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

Stilvolles Ambiente, saubere, gemütliche, grosse Zimmer. Professionelles freundliches Personal. Der Hund den wir dabei hatten, war ebenso wie wir willkommen. Schön gestaltete Saunalandschaft, Innen- und Aussenpool mit Sauna. Sportangebot. Wir haben gar nicht alles genutzt. Das Essen war ein Genuss und das reichhaltige Morgenbuffet war einladend mit vielen frischen Beilagen.
