We had a wonderful week at the Bellavista Hotel! The hotel is beautiful, and we enjoyed every second. As parents with young children, we had a truly relaxing vacation for the first time – I even managed to read four books!
Despite the ongoing expansion, the construction wasn't a problem at all. Stefan and his team pampered us completely – with genuine warmth and great attention. The cuisine, in particular, is outstanding and easily rivals the very best.
A dream of a hotel – we will definitely be back!

Visited August 2021. Unique location. Beautiful but slightly dated structure. Large and comfortable room, though a little outdated. No air conditioning, but that wasn't necessary. Meals offer a good selection and good quality. To be perfect, it could use a bit of modernization, especially considering the rather high prices. Above all, and unfortunately, as is often the case in South Tyrol, the owners could use a little more warmth. Nothing special, formally always friendly enough, but sometimes a little curt and cold when faced with even ordinary requests. In conclusion, I recommend it, but I would suggest a little more of a smile, at least for Italian customers like me.

I arrived for the bike day. The hotel is perfectly located on the route between Prato and the Stelvio Pass (approx. 11 km).
First of all, the breakfast and dinner included in the half-board package were sensational.
It was unusually cold for us at the end of August. Surprisingly, the radiators weren't working; that shouldn't happen. The answer to the warning was "it's August," but when it's below 10 degrees Celsius, you can turn on the radiators even in August. A small fan heater was provided for our use. Nevertheless, our swimsuits and beach towels didn't dry properly. There's room for improvement.
My wife and I received an email in advance stating that a 5% discount was being offered during the current construction work.
When I paid the bill, this discount wasn't listed. After inquiring about it, the elderly lady at the reception desk replied, somewhat bewildered, that it only applied during the week. (We arrived on Friday, and the construction site was in full swing.
If I'm going to send us something like this by email, I'm not going to start another argument about this "generous" discount.
For me personally, that was the downer. An unnecessary move by the lady at the reception.
As for wellness, well, everyone has different tastes. A barrel sauna is nice, but hmm, set up in the garden pond, next to the beautiful pool with a sensational view of the Ortler region. I hope the new building includes a sauna inside the building so you don't have to walk through the dining room. (Of course, that could have been due to the construction work.)

A very nice hotel right on the Stelvio Pass road. The panoramic rooms are spacious, with views of the Ortler and its satellite peaks, and are very tastefully furnished.
The breakfast is first-class, and the rooms are truly comfortable.

A historic and welcoming hotel in Trafoi, founded by ski champion Gustav Thöni and now lovingly managed by his daughter. A warm atmosphere with a lounge and fireplace, and a splendid terrace for aperitifs, strudel, or beer.
The restaurant offers a variety of high-quality dishes every evening, as well as a generous buffet with vegetables, cold cuts, cheeses, soups, and much more. A swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and massage area complete the experience.
Perfect for couples and small families seeking relaxation, flavor, and Alpine tradition.

We spent ten wonderful days at the Bella Vista Hotel in Trafoi in June – and were thrilled in every way.
The food was a daily highlight: varied, sophisticated, and prepared with great care. We parents especially enjoyed the multi-course dinners, as our children absolutely loved the two hours of childcare after dinner – something we'd never experienced before. A particular bonus: the large panoramic glass wall allowed us to keep an eye on the children while still relaxing.
The facilities for children are also fantastic: swings, table tennis, slides, a small soccer field, and numerous pedal vehicles – there's something for every age. Our children didn't want to leave at the end.
The rooms are cozy, very clean, and lovingly prepared. Add to that the unique ambiance throughout the hotel – you immediately feel welcome. The entire team is incredibly friendly and attentive in every department. Its manageable size means it's not overcrowded and has a very family-like atmosphere.
The view from the hotel is simply breathtaking. The moment you see it, you're speechless. The location is perfect for hikes and family outings. The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and invite you to relax.
We've rarely felt so relaxed and refreshed after a vacation as we did here. Since we're very curious to see what it will look like after the extension, one thing is certain: we'll definitely be back!

A magical, unsurpassed location. The management is equally unsurpassed. Professional but not aloof or distant; on the contrary, you immediately feel at home. Mrs. Petra, who welcomed me this year (I was already there last summer), handled a small setback with 5-star elegance and courtesy, which immediately made it easier to overcome and fully appreciate the experience of a short stay at this fantastic property, shared this year with my son.
Welcoming and comfortable hotel, excellent food, breathtaking views of the Stelvio Pass, top-notch service and hospitality. What can I say...thank you, and see you next year!
I forgot, we left at 6:30 to climb the Stelvio Pass without meeting anyone, and at the hotel entrance, we bumped into a skiing legend, who quite simply happened to be the first to show up for work!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful family hotel.
The owners and their staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. We stayed from Sunday to Saturday and enjoyed a delicious dinner and a superb breakfast every evening.
The family walk is also highly recommended. It's quite a steep climb, but the former owner of the hotel, the owner's father, showed us some beautiful scenery. The accompanying lunch was superbly prepared, and we didn't regret joining the walk at all. The former owner and his wife were also incredibly friendly and welcoming.
It was our 5-year-old son's first time taking him to the children's entertainment program, and he thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness of the girls who played with him and made new friends. A child will never be bored, as everything is perfectly taken care of for them.
The view from the garden is magnificent and it looks absolutely fantastic. Everything has been meticulously taken care of. We're very curious about the renovations (which didn't bother us) and what it will look like next year, but for now, this hotel is highly recommended.
It's also very welcoming to dogs.

We can only recommend it. Our vacation at the beautiful Bellavista in Trafoi was unforgettably beautiful. We were there with our five children and have hardly experienced anything more child-friendly than the Bellavista. The price was absolutely worth it. Great buffets. The chef's speech was top-notch! The friendly Thöni family does a great job!
The outdoor area is also suitable for adults and children and is unique. The view, the pools, the attractions for the kids—it couldn't be better.
Thank you so much for this wonderful experience, we'll be back again when we have the chance.

Best spot to arguably the best driving road in the world, the Stelvio Pass. This is not the first time I have stayed here and not the last. Family run hotel for families, couples and anyone really. Friendly staff, attentive and always available, English, German, Italian and other languages. Attention to detail and a quality not found easily in this region of the Italian Alps. Their Michelin chef never failed to produce such amazing dishes… even the kids enjoyed meal times!

The best hotel I've ever been to!!
Location with a breathtaking view, right at the foot of the Stelvio Pass.
Wonderful family atmosphere starting from the reception, where I felt taken care of. Delicious and varied restaurant offer, huge selection of dishes for breakfast, everything fresh and of the highest quality, from local suppliers.
Comfortable rooms, very clean and cleaned daily.
At your disposal an amazing outdoor pool with a view like from a fairy tale, saunas in the building and a panoramic one outside.
Large selection of attractions for children, there is an animator, mountain trips are organized with the hotel hosts.
I will definitely come back here and recommend it to everyone!

Upon arrival and during my initial tour, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's combination of original architecture and modern updates. The rooms convey a warm and welcoming feeling. The staff is professional and speaks Italian, English, and German.
The hotel's amenities range from a huge children's playground, sauna, and swimming pool to relaxation benches on a spacious lawn, as well as yoga classes, massages, and hiking excursions.
Breakfast and dinner were top-notch, and even the vegetarian dish was prepared with creativity and care.
The service is exceptionally friendly and attentive. They provided tips for activities in the region, both for relaxation and exploration of the winding roads by motorcycle.
The double room I stayed in, which was also suitable for a small family, offered everything one could wish for: plenty of space, a great bathroom, and a small balcony with a fantastic view. Wi-Fi and TV are standard.
The Thöni-Gander couple personally attends to their guests and offers a comprehensive range of services for both solo motorcyclists and families. It's no surprise, then, that the hotel is currently being expanded with a new building.
All of this, of course, comes at a price! However, it is commensurate with the quality of service.

As a family with two children (5 years and 1.5 years), we spent a wonderful week in February 2025 in Trafoi at the Hotel Bellavista. The distances to the various activities are short, the rooms and the hotel team are great, there is a very varied childcare program, and the food is fantastic – all in a truly wonderful, snowy mountain landscape. All the staff work very hard to ensure guests are completely satisfied. A lot of equipment can be borrowed free of charge (sleds, snow buggies, ski helmets, etc.), and the excellent children's ski course is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel room. The spa area is also very nice. This was our first time here, but we will definitely be back next year – it was the most relaxing vacation with children for us so far (also thanks to the excellent childcare). :-)

We spent a wonderful week at the Hotel Bella Vista in Trafoi. We felt warmly welcomed upon arrival and were immediately treated to a first-class dinner. This culinary journey of pleasure continued every evening. We have rarely eaten such varied, delicious, and refined meals.
The next morning, an impressive panorama awaited us: the snow-white Ortler Mountains at the center. Breakfast also left nothing to be desired – a rich selection that guaranteed the perfect start to the day.
Trafoi is a wonderful place to stay, with a variety of options for winter sports, wellness, and relaxation. The hotel offers a diverse program, including snowshoe hikes, yoga, tobogganing, wine tastings, and much more. The small, natural ski area is just a few minutes' walk away, and those looking for a larger ski area will find it in Sulden, just a few minutes away by car. At the top of the cable car station, there is a cozy mountain hut with breathtaking views of the Ortler Alps.
But you don't really need to leave the Bella Vista: The heated swimming pool and panoramic sauna offer pure relaxation – with breathtaking views of the mountain scenery. Gustav Thöni, the skiing legend, is a regular at the hotel, and I had the pleasure of having a relaxed chat with him.
Now we're back home and fondly remember this relaxing week – the stunning mountain panorama, the warm hospitality, and the special atmosphere of the hotel. An alpine delight we'll surely experience again.

"Recharging the batteries" - My husband and I spent a week at the "Bella Vista" with Stephan and Petra. This vacation will linger in our memories for a long time, as everything was absolutely perfect. From the infinity pool, the jacuzzi, and the panoramic sauna, we enjoyed the magnificent view of the Ortler. The program for children is very thoughtful. We were able to indulge our souls in yoga classes and snowshoe hikes. The family-friendly ski area in Trafoi is also within walking distance and is perfect for a relaxing winter experience on fantastic slopes. Our stay at Bella Vista Hotel was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel offered a wide range of activities, from hiking and sports to excellent childcare.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and had stunning views of the Ortler mountains. The food was sensational, rivaling star-rated restaurants. We recommend the half-board option to enjoy the exquisite 5-course dinners.
For families, it’s a paradise—kids enjoyed the buffet and activities, while parents could relax. The hotel even reopened the pool late for the kids and provided indoor play areas during bad weather.
For a luxurious touch, rooms with private whirlpools on the terrace are perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking.
While the price is higher, the service, location, and overall experience make it worth it. We felt completely at ease and look forward to returning. Bella Vista truly offers a beautiful and unforgettable vacation.

This hotel is an absolute dream for families, connoisseurs, and vacationers seeking a small, intimate atmosphere. The view of the Ortler is so unreal and breathtakingly beautiful every day.
A true children's paradise and ultimate relaxation for parents. While our son played soccer with other children after the children's buffet, we were able to enjoy the excellent 5-course menu in peace and quiet. Be sure to book half board, and if you prefer something a little more luxurious, you can book one of the hotel rooms with their own whirlpool on the terrace ;-) After hiking and in the evening at sunset with a view of the mountains, it's simply a dream.
Children are very welcome. The pool was opened especially for the boys late in the evening, and the kids were able to run wildly around the hotel even in bad weather. The hotel staff and the Thöni family are excellent hosts.
Apart from the slightly higher price, which is absolutely reasonable for what they offer,
there's simply nothing to complain about!

This hotel is a dream!
The rooms are a bit dated, but well-maintained and clean. The food, the spa area, and the warm hospitality of the hosts are simply outstanding. It doesn't feel like a typical hotel; it has a very welcoming, family atmosphere.
Even the birthday guests were greeted with a cake, a candle, and a card.
The spa area is small, but perfectly adequate, beautiful, and brand new. The view from the pool and sauna is breathtaking.

Very well located with many opportunities for hikes in the fall. The hotel is very well equipped, with plenty of things to do with children. It's especially good that they offer childcare for such a long time, but even though some of the activities could have used real pumpkins, for example, our child (8) really enjoyed it. The numerous games on offer were more than sufficient for a week.
The food was top-notch. Very impressive was the way crispness and creaminess were repeatedly combined, and how precisely everything was cooked. It was a lot of fun.
In the room, the sliding door to the bathroom wasn't very practical because you could hurt yourself on it, as the lock was protruding. I would have liked more light in the stairwell.
It was very cozy sitting by the fireplace. The wine tasting was very successful and entertaining. I thought it was great that the drinks, such as wine and beer, were all from South Tyrol.
The service, especially at the reception, was absolutely perfect. It was like being among friends. The couple who own this very informal shop were also very hardworking and involved in all processes. Perhaps because we were there a bit between seasons.

I had the opportunity to take my mother to Bellavista for a late summer vacation for five days. It was a perfect experience in every way.
From the moment we arrived, the family of ski champion Gustav made us feel at home. Petra and Stephan were incredibly kind, providing us with all the information we needed and always available to anticipate our every need.
The entire staff was very friendly and helpful, always with a smile. We met the chef, who prepares different dishes every day. The ingredients were of the highest quality, and attention to detail was evident.
The room was beautiful and new. Comfortable and equipped with all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay. The real highlight: the hot tub on our terrace with a breathtaking view.
We also really enjoyed the spa in the basement and the panoramic sauna. Spectacular.
A special thanks to the legendary Gustav, a great ski champion, always available for a chat and to interact with all the guests.
Just one small suggestion: Improve the heating management. Unfortunately, it was really hot at night, even though everything in the room was turned off.

Unfortunately, the childcare during dinner was not suitable for younger children, except in the playroom. It was unfortunately too dangerous outside, or the childminder wasn't looking. We had two dogs with us, but unfortunately, they cost more than my child, including food. I found that a bit of a shame, but unfortunately, it's the case with many hotels.
There are some lovely excursions and hikes to choose from, and all in all, we were very satisfied and can highly recommend the hotel.

At this historic hotel in Trafoi, run by the Thöni family, you can immediately sense the atmosphere of the ski races and the glorious days of the Avalanche Azzurra, of which Gustav was one of the most victorious figures! You might even meet Gustav himself! Comfortable rooms, very friendly staff, excellent and plentiful food, both at dinner and breakfast, as is traditional in South Tyrol, and the wellness area is also beautiful!

This was our second time staying at the Bella Vista Hotel.
The food is outstanding; both the breakfast buffet and dinner are first-class. The staff is friendly and accommodating, leaving nothing to be desired. Everything feels completely familiar, and the hosts are clearly committed to ensuring that their guests enjoy their stay and feel comfortable.
The region is a dream for hiking, and the view of the mighty mountains and glaciers from the restaurant is breathtaking.
With the Vinschgau Card, you can take the ride up to the Stilfser Joch Pass for free, from where there are great hiking trails back to Trafoi.
You do need to book early, though: since there aren't many rooms, it books up quickly for the summer holidays.

We spent 9 days at the Hotel Bellavista with our 8-year-old child. Everything was fantastic! The hotel is located in the middle of nature, somewhat secluded on the Stelvio Pass road. Exactly as we had hoped, without any mass tourism. It's a very cozy, family-run hotel. Everything is beautifully furnished and clean. Every single member of staff is very friendly, and you can feel a very pleasant atmosphere. Everyone is always helpful and can provide detailed information about nearby activities and hiking tips. They can also give great opinions on how suitable individual hiking routes are for individuals and children. That was very helpful. The hotel managers are also always present, very open, and regularly ask how you're doing, without seeming intrusive. It simply gives a genuine impression. You feel happy and comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was also great. A large selection and something for everyone. There was also a new little specialty every day. The 5-course dinner was a standout for us! Every course, every evening, was a highlight. So flavorful, the ingredients were of high quality, and the portions were generous. Truly fantastic! And we didn't repeat a single one in 9 days! It's also worth mentioning that fresh spring water is always available, which tastes very refreshing.
We also found the concept very pleasant, as it's not a purely family-friendly hotel and therefore not so noisy. As a result, while there aren't numerous artificial play areas, there are several outdoor play areas in nature. Our child didn't miss anything at all. Quite the opposite; the options were a huge hit. There are also plenty of games and puzzles available for use. There was a large bar area where you could play and hang out all day long.
With the guest card, you can use public transport for free and receive discounts on some admissions. The bus stop was also very close to the hotel and ran several times a day.
We mostly took advantage of the great hiking opportunities with our children. Our personal highlight was our private whirlpool on the balcony, which we could use at any time without much hassle.
So, all in all, a wonderful holiday in nature and a great hotel with a lovely, and for us, more upscale, ambiance :-)

We were warmly welcomed. The hotel is family-run with a lot of experience in dealing with guests. Our room was very nice and always clean with a direct view of the Ortler, which is really awesome. The wooden floor made the room feel very homely and we were able to walk barefoot.
The hosts Petra & Stephan and their team convey a feeling of “being guests with friends”. So a super soothing relaxation and warmth for every guest.
By offering childcare, a pool, steam sauna and outdoor sauna, table tennis and chess and football, there is something for everyone to have fun.

Sssh, don’t tell everyone!
We stayed at Hotel Bella Vista last week after our family that we stayed with recommended it (it was their 3rd time!). We were a family of 3 with a 10 year old son and a dog.
I literally cannot fault the hotel or experience in any way and can honestly say it was one of the best holiday weeks of my life, and I’ve travelled a lot and lived in several countries!
The week was a perfect mix of family time, relaxing adult time, active family time and culinary delights - I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service.
The organised walks, activities and 40 hours(!) kids’ care mean there really is something for everyone. The views and scenery are breathtaking and the staff work extremely hard to give you the best experience ever. Special thanks to Stephan and Petra for being such amazing, warm, genuine hosts.
I believe life is too short to go to the same place twice, but we are already talking about returning next year. Thank you so much for a truly special holiday team Bella Vista!

The Ortles B&B belongs to the Hotel Bella Vista, but is 1 km away – and thus a lovely terrace and excellent cuisine. Unfortunately, it's currently best to use a car for the transfer (the hotel shuttles its guests back and forth), as there's no sidewalk on the lower part of the road. However, a footpath through the woods is supposed to be completed soon, which will then allow walking. Otherwise, my stay was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by the extremely hospitable staff. The breakfast at the Ortles leaves nothing to be desired.

The menu could be a bit more descriptive about the ingredients included in the various dishes.
The non-Alto Adige wine list was limited.
The area is beautiful, located halfway between the villages and the Stelvio Pass.
They accept dogs, but you can tell they're a bit old-fashioned.

We spent a night at Hotel Bella Vista thanks to a recommendation from friends, and it was a dream.
We were greeted by the very friendly receptionist Carmen, who, as we learned and experienced, has been making guests feel at home and welcome during their stay for years with her friendly manner.
With a welcome drink and a heartfelt chat with the powerful woman and hotel owner Petra, we enjoyed the unique mountain scenery on the terrace.
We were given a beautiful room with a private whirlpool on the balcony, everything very clean and lovingly decorated.
The highlights are the panoramic sauna and the kitchen. The sauna is located in the middle of the garden, and the view wanders back to the stunning scenery. The sun sets, and the excellent dinner calls. Before dinner, Stephan, hotel owner and Petra's husband, offered us a South Tyrolean sparkling wine at the bar and passionately explained the interesting history behind this drink.
A man who truly knows his stuff in the world of wine and gin.
From the salad buffet, which left nothing to be desired, to the dessert, everything was fantastic. Even the vegetarian option was very good, and junior manager Matthias' wine recommendations were excellent.
Anja also served us with charm, competence, and attentiveness.
We thank you very much for the wonderful experience, and we'll definitely see you again.

We spent Easter at the Bella Vista with our 5- and 9-year-old children, and it was a special Easter thanks to the magical atmosphere this property offered us, starting with waking up to a breathtaking view of the glaciers.
The children had a blast thanks to the miniclub activities and the large play areas dedicated to them.
The beginner ski slope is right in front of the hotel, and lifts for the other slopes are just a few minutes' walk away.
We adults really appreciated, in addition to the excellent gourmet cuisine, the wellness area with saunas, Turkish bath, whirlpool, and heated pool, surrounded by nature and a picture-perfect panorama.
The rooms were spacious and clean, everything was well-maintained, and the Thoni family and all the staff were always very friendly and helpful.
Great attention was also paid to those who eat gluten-free, with special bread and dishes and a gluten-free breakfast basket.
We will definitely be back.

Perfect place it was a safe haven from cold and rain on a descent from Stelvio on bicycles. After climbing both sides in the same weekend, great breakfast, sauna and the washing machines offered at this hotel was highly appreciated together with safe indoor bike storage. In summer, the area is a paradise for cyclists, trail runners, hikers, and climbers. There's plenty to discover and explore for months.
The hotel is very welcoming, the staff very professional. The Thöni family is incredibly kind and courteous.
The week we arrived, there were mostly German families, so our son was reluctant to attend the club, but the activities organized were very nice and varied daily.
The breakfast was among the best, if not the best, I've had in Italy (I travel to Italy often for work). There was a wide variety of food available, all of it high quality. Dinners were very well organized. Excellent variety, dishes expertly prepared by the chef.
We were disappointed not to be able to use all the hotel amenities (sauna, pool, massages), which was difficult with a 7-month-old baby and a 6-year-old son. We promised ourselves we'd return in the future.

The hotel is steeped in history and significance, not only because it has existed for over 180 years, but also because it carries on the legacy, not only in sport, of Gustav Toehni, a great skier in the Avalanche Azzurra, whose family has run the hotel for generations. Attention to detail is evident in every aspect: gourmet cuisine, with a focus on local traditions and delicious vegetarian dishes, and a well-stocked cellar with local wines; a generous breakfast with small surprises that change daily; a bright, modern, and welcoming dining room overlooking the valley; clean, spacious rooms equipped with small comforts like a shower and mirror, and in our case, even larger ones like a small terrace with a view and a private hot tub. Large outdoor common areas include a swimming pool, sauna, and hot tub, as well as children's areas. Because, above all, the Bellavista is also a family hotel, with a dedicated staff for children. Kudos also to the management, who are very friendly and helpful, and who personally care about their guests: for example, they offer family excursions and local wine tastings. The hotel is located in a truly quiet, small village. It offers excellent value for money. The rooms, at least ours, were simply furnished. A mix of modern bathrooms and rustic furnishings, but with charm. There are plenty of hiking opportunities in the surrounding area. There's some kind of children's entertainment for children. Otherwise, there's plenty to explore in nature.

An absolutely exceptional 4-star hotel. Run by the family of champion Gustav Thoeni, the hotel is very old, having been built in 1875. Every year, a vacation at Bella Vista is an experience that we look forward to all year long. It's like coming home every time you step into the hotel foyer. The staff, who are always friendly, not only welcome you warmly, they also make you feel unobtrusively cared for throughout your entire holiday.
The ambience with wellness facilities inside and outside beats all records. The breathtaking view of the valley, the mountain panorama and, last but not least, the hotel itself, allows you to immediately relax and simply feel good.
In addition to the existing sauna area, this year there is also a new, more spacious sauna with a stunning view of the Maddatsch peaks through floor-to-ceiling windows. Infusions are packed into snowballs - a sensation! What a feeling to walk out of the sauna through the snow and take in the impressive Alpine panorama in the infinity pool. The infinity pool in the middle of the snowy landscape is warmed to a pleasant temperature on cold winter days and is equipped with massage jets.
No matter whether you come from skiing, hiking or just lounging on the terrace - dinner is something you look forward to all day. The varied five-star menu is lovingly and cleverly prepared, and since this year there are even more choices - there is also a vegetarian alternative for every dish, and delicious smoothies complete the range.
Particular emphasis has always been placed on childcare and entertainment here, so that you can leave your children out of sight without hesitation while you yourself can take advantage of the wide range of offers, such as wine tasting in the evening, a relaxing massage, snowshoe hikes under the starry sky or skiing with Gustav Thöni.
We have already reserved again and are already looking forward to next year.

Five wonderful days on the snow. My son learned to ski at the school in a beginner's area that's part of the tree. Absolute relaxation for Mom and Dad, we carved out some wonderful moments in the spa with a panoramic Finnish sauna with aromatic infusions, and enjoyed beautiful skiing in the two ski areas of Trafoi and Solda. Our son wanted to spend more time with the girls at the mini club than with us parents. The food for adults and children was top-notch, everything was delicious. It felt like being at home with family, the staff (Gustav Thoni's family) were kind and always available, ready to pamper you at every opportunity. A wonderful experience, worth repeating in the summer.

The rooms are tidy and clean, in South Tyrolean style. They are tidied up every morning by expert, "invisible" hands: you go downstairs for breakfast, come back, and the room is magically tidy! Breakfast is wonderful, a buffet with top-quality, locally sourced products! Dinner lives up to the expectations set by breakfast; the chef is simply an artist! The staff is always friendly and helpful. The owners are a wonderful, easy-going couple. Since we had a dog when we stayed, we couldn't eat in the dining room because the rule is that dogs are not allowed there. They set a table for us in an adjacent, equally welcoming room, where the owners have breakfast. We chatted like friends every morning! You can really see that they do things with love, not obligation. We also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Thöni, who was as kind as his daughter. The hotel also has a small spa, with a heated pool and sauna outside and a sauna and Turkish bath inside.
In short, it lacks nothing; I highly recommend it!

Fantastic service! On September 13th, I was stranded in the parking lot with an overheated motorcycle. We were immediately offered water. Later, we were able to book a beautiful room with a stunning view. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast, and were able to relieve the stress of the motorcycle repair. In the morning, we received extensive assistance with the journey behind the motorcycle to the garage in Bolzano!

A must-see for all Alpine skiing enthusiasts. Even if you're not staying there, you can visit the small museum set up by Gustav Thoeni, which contains his trophies (primarily the four World Cups), vintage items, skis, photographs, and even material from the era when he coached Alberto Tomba, including his Rossignol giant slalom skis. If you're visiting as an outside guest, it's a polite gesture to have at least one coffee. And Mr. Thoeni might even make it for you!

This gem is tucked away in Stelvio National Park and has something for everyone, from toddlers to grandparents. This is the perfect family destination. With an excellent Kids' Club—children can participate in yoga, horseback riding, arts and crafts, hiking, and campfires—my daughter was thrilled to spend the whole day exploring with her new friends. The club is optional, and you can let the staff know the night before if your child would like to attend. The hotel itself is run by the lovely family of Olympic gold medalist Gustav Thoni. The whole family is present here: Petra and her husband Stephan make you feel part of their family as soon as you arrive, even though they already have five children of their own! Petra, Carmen, and Ingrid run the reception and concierge desk and provide an endless variety of activities. There's no way you can get bored here. One of our favorite activities includes hiking with Stephan, which ends at the foot of the waterfalls. The hotel prepares a packed lunch that you can enjoy by the river. My husband and I enjoyed the wine tasting, also hosted by Stephan, who is very knowledgeable about the region's wines. Another hike organized by the hotel (one of several) ends with a bar-b-q that my kids enjoy. It's very difficult to leave the property, but there's no end to the many day trips easily accessible in 20-45 minutes... remember, you're less than 15 km from the Austrian or Swiss border. One of my favorite outings (for the more athletic) is a 40+ kilometer bike ride (mostly downhill) that starts in Males and ends in Naturno. You park your car at the Males train station, rent the bike, and off you go... you leave the bike at the Naturno train station and enjoy the scenic train ride back to Males to pick up your car. We did this half-day adventure with our 9 and 10-year-old (as well as the 5-year-old in the child seat) and everyone still talks about how beautiful the bike path was as it wound between the river, mountains, castles, and apple orchards. We had lunch lakeside at Fischerstube and enjoyed an Aperol spritz and Hugo cocktails while the kids played with ducks and fish along the lake. Another great trip is to Lago di Resia to see the sunken bell tower of Curon—it has an incredible history and offers another great walk, followed by lunch at Traube Post—the kids still talk about the tartare and homemade pasta (the portions are generous). On our last day, my husband had promised the younger kids they would get to see snow (it was July)... so we went to the quaint nearby village of Solden and took the gondola up to a beautiful chalet, saw the snow (finally), and enjoyed the stunning panorama with a hot chocolate. With over 300 km of trails, we hiked again with all the children and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Returning to the family-friendly Hotel Bella Vista, our favorite rooms have amazing views but are slightly different: 101 has a large terrace and a sofa bed, and 208 has smaller balconies but a sitting area and bunk beds (both for 2 adults and 2 children)—all are well-equipped and feel spacious and bright. The bathrooms have also been recently renovated and offer large showers. Bookings are bed and board, which offer a great typical Tyrolean breakfast, and dinner is divine. A good buffet to start with a wide selection of vegetables and salads followed by three courses that also offer a vegetarian option. Each dinner has a recommended wine selection. The adults enjoy the evening while the children dine in the kids' club, leaving the parents to finish another magical day enjoying the peace and serenity of this special place hidden in the Dolomites.

However, it's not worth comparing these hotels because they're inferior in the basic aspects of a true family vacation in South Tyrol.
The location, the view, the atmosphere, the staff, the architecture of the dining room and its lobby, full of tables and sofas with a fireplace, intimate yet modern at the same time, the terrace in front of the room, their exquisite ability to make you feel like a welcome guest and not a customer, the passion with which they respond to requests, never a no, but always an alternative proposal and a solution: all this and much more is the Bella Vista.
Meal times, typical of South Tyrolean hotels, are flexible, with breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. and dinner at 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. If you want a coffee before breakfast, the bar is open (I even had it open at 7:00 a.m.), no problem. You're not aliens if you sit down at 7:45 p.m.; on the contrary, you're always welcome, pampered, and unhurried. Children's programs run from morning to evening, and childcare is included at dinner as well as lunch.
Children's lunch at the Bella Vista is included on-site, but even if the children don't eat at the hotel, in the morning just fill out a form and give it to the staff, who will prepare a packed lunch with a sandwich of your choice and a piece of fruit, consistent with the menu until the end. Adults can also have a packed lunch, but obviously for a fee.
Spring water is free and you can serve yourself from a fountain in the buffet room—a nice touch. From the dining room, you have a view of the glaciers... The family programs are excellent, and every day they are always well-presented. You are always consulted regarding the programs and given the necessary and timely information on what they offer, all with discretion and professionalism.
The cuisine always has a South Tyrolean touch, with Mediterranean touches and excellent, local ingredients. I would only stir-fry the first courses, not just some, before serving.
Breakfast always includes, in addition to a buffet full of local delicacies, including savory and sweet options, not to mention the usual international and Mediterranean selections, drinks from the bar as well, such as coffee, etc., and the staff themselves ask every morning. The room is beautiful, rustic yet modern, and with a view of the glaciers (not all do; the others overlook the peaks of the Val Venosta), it is unique. The only thing missing is a refrigerator; I don't know if other rooms have one. We were in the Stella Alpina, and there isn't one. At night or in the morning, for personal needs or special medications, it is always useful. Beautiful outdoor play equipment for children in a unique setting overlooking the glaciers. The wellness area with an outdoor whirlpool, sauna, and natural lake is simply marvelous. The indoor wellness center, including a massage room, is excellent, and the staff are top-notch. The tables outside the dining room invite you to sip aperitifs and drinks, or simply read and relax, enjoying such beauty and silence. Included in the package is a tasting of Alto Adige wines, and for those who don't know, Alto Adige white wines are the best in Italy, along with those from F.V.Giulia. The Pinot Noir is also unique. Stephan explains the wines in a simple, comprehensive, and captivating way, with fascinating historical notes about Alto Adige. Tasting while overlooking the glaciers is unparalleled. In short, a paradise for adults and children, but also suitable for couples, as there's no crowding. Last but not least, the presence of Gustav Thoni, who alone is worth the trip. Thanks to the Gustav Thoni family for a wonderful stay, still alive in our minds and hearts.

At the Hotel Bella Vista, the name says it all: With a wonderful view of the Ortler Mountains, you can indulge your senses in the evening with a 5-course menu, excellent wine, and extremely friendly staff. To ensure that the culinary experience doesn't end up being a shock after your vacation, I recommend a bit of exercise. The hotel is perfectly located for mountain tours and hikes: At the foot of the Stelvio Pass, you can explore a peak in practically every direction. To counteract sore muscles after a successful hike, you can hop into the sauna. In terms of cleanliness and hygiene, the Bella Vista is exemplary in every area. We'll be back.

I went for lunch, but alas, the kitchen was closed. However, they allowed us to enjoy traditional cold dishes and sandwiches. I'd recommend the speck, which is truly delicious. A very nice hotel with friendly, almost familial service and a particularly stunning view. The rooms are a bit dated, but that's a matter of taste. In the evenings, there's always a 4-5 course menu (with a choice of dishes). Lunch and dinner are free for children up to 13 years old, and childcare and activities are also mostly free. On Sundays, there's a free, well-explained wine tasting for adults as well.

This is the hotel of Gustavo Thöni, an old alpine legend, breathtaking views, nice rooms, nice bathrooms, good food, the staff is nice, there is no air conditioning but it is not needed, it is a family hotel with a sauna, jacuzzi, pool, trampoline and a small zoo. In winter the road is closed and the Helle valley is a ski slope, if you are lucky you might get a ski with Gustavo Thöni

I hadn't been to this hotel in over 15 years, but I returned and stopped for lunch. The rooms have been renovated and the dining area expanded. We took advantage of the sunny day to have lunch on the back terrace overlooking the splendid Madaccio mountain range with its glaciers, which are unfortunately continually receding. Stephan and Petra are a little bit annoying. They are good looking, charismatic and astute. Their hotel is beautiful and welcoming. The food is superb. The staff smile. We celebrated New Year's 2017 at this hotel! It's a very warm and welcoming place! The staff is incredibly friendly. The hosts were surprised to hear Russian spoken, which was a relief since Russians are virtually unheard of there. They even gave us two bottles of their wine, which was a lovely touch! The ski lift is right next to the hotel, within walking distance. There are drying rooms and storage space in the basement—I left my snowboard there. There's also a small ski lift for children. We absolutely loved this place—it's picturesque, beautiful, and steeped in history! By the way, they have a fantastic sauna with panoramic views of the mountains—a must-see! ...and the outdoor jacuzzi is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it!

It's a family hotel nestled in a wonderful valley. The staff, almost all part of the Thöni family, is very friendly. The rooms are spacious and recently renovated. The restaurant is very well-equipped, with a children's area. Various activities are organized for them.
We've traveled there three times and always recommend it. The excursions in the surrounding area are very pleasant and of varying difficulty.
