We spent a week at the Gschangut and felt very comfortable. The service staff was very friendly and attentive, the room was new, very clean, and spacious. We stayed in the Sky Room and had the panoramic sauna just a few meters away – simply wonderful. It's a great starting point for hikes and excursions in the region. After hiking on the irrigation channels (Waalwege) above Merano and Lana, we enjoyed the varied four-course dinners in the evenings. With the free South Tyrol Ticket, we were able to travel to Merano and Bolzano. Truly wonderful days in South Tyrol, and we would love to come back.

The cuisine, featuring high-quality and refined dishes, is a true highlight, as is the new wellness area on the third floor. The very spacious suite is modernly furnished and comfortable. Many thoughtful touches, such as magazines and a well-stocked bar, make the stay very pleasant.

As a family of four, we have stayed here several times, both in summer and fall. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed half-board with a rich breakfast buffet and a multi-course dinner on each stay. In the evenings, there are always several options per course to choose from, and children can opt for alternatives. Our apartment was very clean and, with a good layout, offered plenty of space for our family. The hotel offers a pool in the garden, an indoor pool, saunas, a tennis court, and a fitness room, providing ample options for spending the day.

We stayed at the Hotel Gschwandgut for the second time and had a newly renovated junior suite on the first floor with a wonderful view of the tropical garden. The room was beautifully furnished, with plenty of storage space. A comfortable bed, a pillow selection (very important to me!). The bathroom had enough space for all sorts of things a man/woman might need; a large, comfortable shower, toilet and bidet, and a well-functioning hairdryer. The highlight of this room: the window seat.
Regarding the breakfast buffet, we can only say: everything that makes a very good breakfast. Warm egg dishes are freshly prepared.
Dinner is a delight with several courses. The excellent wine selection perfectly complements the dinner.
Very friendly and well-trained staff.
A last-minute booking was handled without any complications; thank you again for that.

A beautiful hotel, surrounded by greenery, not far from the center of Lana. The outdoor pool and wellness center (hot tub, gym, sauna, and indoor pool) are enchanting. The reception and dining room staff are very friendly, professional, helpful, and, above all, always smiling. Highly recommended!

We just returned from our vacation and had a wonderful time at the Gschwangut. We have nothing but positive things to report. The entire team is fantastic; they fulfill your every wish. A very nice hotel that I can recommend without reservation. The hotel, with its beautiful garden and pool, is beautifully landscaped. We chose half board and weren't expecting such a fantastic five-course dinner. Highly recommended. We arrived by e-bike; regular bikes are available to use free of charge at the hotel. A great base for hikers and bikers. We didn't lack for anything and we will definitely be back.

The strong points of this hotel are the excellent, kind and professional wait staff, the sauna, and the relaxation room with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Based on our experience, we can't give the room a positive review because, despite the plumber's intervention, according to the hotelier, we had a sewer smell coming from the shower after using it throughout our stay. Furthermore, on two occasions, we found dirty towels and bathrobes hanging from the towel warmer and not replaced (I should point out that the front desk had told us bathrobes could be changed daily, which we did from the second day of our stay). Furthermore, the tablecloth on the coffee table was stained and not replaced, the maid came into our room to get blankets even though we were in a disabled room, and finally, the extra drinks bill was incorrect.

The hotel is in a quiet location; the garden with pool is an inviting place to relax; there was always a lounger available. We stayed there for a week in July and didn't need a car. You immediately feel at home upon arrival thanks to the attentive staff. Everything was perfect; from the service to the food, nothing but praise. We'd gladly return.

I highly recommend the Hotel Gwschangut. It has an idyllic, quiet, and well-maintained garden with a beautiful pool, a fantastic roof garden, and always plenty of loungers. I had a good room where everything worked perfectly. The breakfast and multi-course dinners were excellent, and the service (especially Denisa) was excellent. Merano is easily accessible by direct bus. Unfortunately, the reception was rather sober (no welcome drink after a very long journey!) and the host (or deputy) I never saw seemed to have no interest in greeting and getting to know the guests.

First of all, a huge thank you to the entire team at Hotel Gschwangut️ We stayed at this beautiful hotel from June 15th to June 22nd, 2025, "I think for the ninth time." As always, everything was perfect. We will be back next year. Just a small note: Of course, you can't always please all of your guests. Some people don't like the coffee, others find the food too little, others find the pool too cold, etc. I don't think there is a hotel in the world that always pleases all of its guests. There is always someone with something to complain about. Well, as I said, everything is fine for us the way it is. Highly recommended 4-star hotel. The location is ideal – near Tribusplatz with good bus connections. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous, and attentive. The chef knows his craft, and the 5-course menus are varied and highly recommended.
The rooms are modern, clean, very spacious, and tastefully decorated. The outdoor area with pool is lovingly designed and very well maintained. The hotel also offers free underground parking and outdoor parking spaces. For sports enthusiasts, there are tennis courts and hotel bikes. I highly recommend the hotel. We have already booked again for next year and are looking forward to it.

Nearby towns like Bolzano and Merano are easily accessible by bus; the hotel even provides a free bus ticket! Parking at the hotel is also free. A beautiful hotel that we would recommend at any time.
Wonderful, mature gardens with various fruit trees, roses, palm trees, a pond with turtles, etc.
There is also a well-maintained, large pool with a waterfall.
The staff and owners are very courteous and helpful.
The food at the hotel was very varied, good, and good.
We booked a Sky Suite with a great panoramic view, but the air conditioning could be more effective, especially in warmer seasons.
The beautiful, green roof terrace is also a plus.
There was also good access to public transport.
We are already looking forward to our next vacation at the Hotel Gschwangut!

We stayed at the Gschwangut for the third time for a short break and felt well looked after from the very first minute.
Check-in: Very friendly and warm welcome. The ladies at the reception were always cheerful and accommodating.
Rooms: We stayed on the first floor. One double room, one single room. The rooms were sufficiently large, and the beds were perfectly fine for us. The double room didn't have air conditioning, but this wasn't a problem for us as there were wooden shutters on the windows, which we closed during the day. The bathroom was sufficient for us.
Garden and pool: Very lovingly landscaped and well-maintained. There are plenty of loungers. The lush plants provide pleasant shade.
The new roof garden and wellness area are also perfectly designed and highly recommended for relaxing with a wonderful view.
Staff: Exceptionally friendly, competent, and customer-oriented.
Upon request, we were introduced to the new, very beautiful suites and sky rooms... perhaps even more. For the next stay...we'll see (-;
Kitchen: Breakfast buffet with a variety of cheeses, sausages, fruits, and vegetables. Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, or omelets can be prepared upon request.
Evening menu: Very good menu with a daily selection (meat, fish, or vegetarian). Good wine selection...there's something for every taste.
Here, too, the service staff was perfect at all times. Even the owner of the house isn't above serving his guests .

This hotel promises (after a special phone call) an underground parking garage suitable for sports cars. Unfortunately, this isn't the case at all. Room 207 doesn't deserve a 4-star rating in my opinion either (as of June 2023). The pool and wellness area correspond to the description on the hotel's website.

We chose this hotel very spontaneously. It was a real stroke of luck after our rather problematic experiences in Rome.
We had a very spacious suite with a large balcony, enough room to spread out.
The indoor swimming pool, the fitness room, and the two sauna areas offered ample indoor opportunities for exercise and relaxation. The beautifully maintained garden, landscaped with expertise and love, invites you to linger and relax.
With a 6-course menu from an excellent kitchen, you can end the day in a relaxed and enjoyable way. The wine list offers the perfect grape wine for every palate and to complement every dish.
The friendly and service-oriented staff adds the icing on the cake to the overall impression.

We (four adults) stayed at the Hotel Gschwangut for the second time over Easter 2023 – and look back on another fantastic 5-day vacation. The Gschwangut offers very nice rooms and even better suites, a fantastic garden with a pool (still a bit cold), a huge, new sauna area with mountain views, a superb roof terrace, and a very well-maintained restaurant area. The location is central (in Lana), but very quiet with good (free) bus connections. It's easy to get to Merano, Bolzano, Eppan, and the Waalwege (Waal paths).
The food was excellent, four courses plus a salad and cheese buffet. A special mention: even after long day trips, you'll still be well-fed :-). The wine list is impressive – although it could offer a bit more explanation of the wines on offer.
The service was once again very accommodating, whether they accepted wine ordered externally for us or asked for refills at the buffet.
In summary: highly recommended!

I can't understand all the negative reviews. We were there last week for a week of wellness. Highly recommended, family-run hotel. Very spacious, super clean rooms, a big compliment to the housekeeping staff. The 4-course meal was excellent and plentiful, breakfast left nothing to be desired and if there were any, the service staff promptly fulfilled. The drinks selection in the restaurant and bar was well-stocked, with a great wine list and great recommendations. The service staff in all areas was very nice, friendly and accommodating. The wellness area with pool, whirlpool and various saunas is great, well-maintained and super clean. The wellness treatments by the wonderful Marie Luise are super relaxing and professionally carried out. The outdoor areas and outdoor pool with plenty of loungers are very well maintained and the sun terrace is a hit. Oh well, even if some of the rooms are no longer in keeping with the latest updates, they are very well maintained, have high-quality furnishings, a very spacious bathroom and everything is very clean. At home, you don't throw out your good, intact furniture every 10 years to follow the latest trends. We were even allowed to stay an extra night, even though the hotel was closed on November 6, 2022. Now that's what I call service. Thank you all again for the pleasant, wonderful stay.

We stayed at the hotel with our family for nine days, our first time, and were very satisfied. The always friendly staff and the owners were always very attentive to our little daughter's needs. The rooms in the annex are in desperate need of renovation, but this should happen this winter or early next year. The food was always very, very good (a big compliment to the entire kitchen team).
The beautifully landscaped garden with the large pool (a children's pool, both indoors and outdoors, would be nice), the children's playground (unfortunately without a sandbox), and the fantastic roof terrace rounded off a wonderful vacation.

We checked in for 6 days. A very nice young lady at the reception, check-in was super quick, and we found the advance check-in from home very good.
We found the indoor and outdoor pool area very nice, although unfortunately we didn't get to use it.
The fitness area was quite okay for bad weather and perfectly fine for the hotel's target audience.
Unfortunately, we only discovered the garden up on the roof by chance two days before our return trip. It's a shame, really, because it's really beautiful and you can really enjoy the weather and the view if you don't want to sit down in the garden by the pool. It would have been nice to have known about it earlier, and the same goes for the new and modern relaxation and sauna areas upstairs. Very nice, but unfortunately, we only discovered it much too late and couldn't use it.
The clientele was mostly over-50, but the atmosphere was very pleasant.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the room. This could, of course, have been due to the slightly late booking. Unfortunately, the room wasn't really modern (yet?). The shower was very small, the bed was very hard, and we had back pain. The TV was very small for such a large room.
About the food:
For a 4-star hotel, you have different expectations of the cuisine, which were unfortunately only partially met.
Breakfast had everything your heart could desire, even if one of the chefs didn't really talk when asked about egg dishes.
Dinner was very varied, and the selection of different dishes was very nice. I had expected more from the Italian evening, especially at a hotel in South Tyrol/Italy; unfortunately, you can get better in Germany.
Otherwise, the food was generally okay.
Service was also mostly good and friendly.
Will we come back again? Probably not, and if so, it won't be half board, because South Tyrol has really good food to offer ️

We spent our second holiday at this hotel and were once again absolutely delighted. It's a family-run hotel where the kitchen is simply exceptional. The menus leave almost nothing to be desired. The service staff at reception and in the restaurant are exceptionally friendly and competent. The beautifully landscaped pool area with its various recreational activities is perfect for relaxing. The central location for shopping in Merano and Bolzano, as well as for hiking in the nearby areas, is also ideal. Highly recommended! Thank you for the wonderful time!

This was our first time at this family-run hotel complex, and we really enjoyed it. We booked the penthouse for five people (2 adults, 3 children), which has its own roof terrace, not visible to other guests. Everything was very clean, and the food was delicious. There are plenty of things to do in the hotel complex, whatever the weather. The kids were happy, so we'll be back ;-)

Hotel Gschwangut has a great location and excellent food. Tyrolean style combined with Italian, beautiful rooms, excellent food service, a large garden, and a sauna and pool complex. Added to that are the extensive leisure activities, helpful staff and owners, the organizational skills of the receptionists, and the hiking options. I also loved the guided bike tours, the golf courses, and the sunny and perfect location in the heart of Merano and Bolzano!

A very clean and well-maintained hotel. Quietly located yet centrally located. Rooms (Sky Suite) with high-quality furniture and plenty of storage space. Staff were always courteous, pleasant, friendly, and helpful (staff and kitchen, as always, top-notch). Very good and varied food. Beautiful wellness area with saunas (basement and panoramic sauna on the 3rd floor), relaxation room, roof garden, whirlpool, indoor pool, and a beautiful Mediterranean garden with an outdoor pool and sunbathing lawn. A tennis court is available. We've been there several times and will definitely return.

Beautiful hotel, especially the outdoor area with its pool and garden is a lovely place to relax. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, and the food was good too.
Everything was very tidy and clean, although some of the rooms aren't that new anymore.
The new panoramic sauna with the roof terrace is very cool.

Beautiful hotel, quietly located. Ideal for exploring the area from Merano to Bolzano. Staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed half-board in the neighboring building. Large rooms, two balconies, were nice. Beautiful wellness area with saunas in the basement and upstairs. As well as a nice rooftop area with loungers. The outdoor pool was very cool in mid-September. The food was okay. However, we had to ask for our little daughter's food every time. That wasn't ideal. A children's menu would have been nice. It's not nice to say you don't know what's available for your little one at a 4-star hotel before the main course. Also, the question...if there isn't that, will she only eat croquettes? Likewise, they could have restocked various items at the buffet more quickly. Courses and dishes were also mixed up. We found this amusing at first, but after a week it became rather annoying. The age structure was rather older, but the clientele was pleasant. Great rooms, good food, service could have been improved. Nevertheless, we felt comfortable. Please consider this constructive criticism.

A hotel just steps from the beautiful Lana. Upon arrival, you'll be struck by the charming pool set in a Mediterranean garden, complete with a pond with turtles, a few friendly chickens, and the beautiful surrounding orchards. The atmosphere is familiar and friendly, the food excellent, and the staff friendly. A great location for excursions and outdoor activities. Leaving here will leave you feeling nostalgic and longing to return.

We had the Sky Suite with a wonderful view, very nice staff, great kitchen, we were even allowed to put the TV in the bedroom! Highly recommended as a starting point for Lana in the Ulten Valley - you can do a lot on foot and after the hike you can jump into the pool in the hotel's beautiful garden!! In autumn it's great with an indoor pool and sauna!! We really liked the new rooms with lots of glass, very bright and stylish and we will definitely come back R&R from Munich

Many leisure activities such as cycling, tennis, a pool, (indoor and outdoor) sauna, fitness room, wellness center, hiking, golf...
contribute to a wonderful vacation. The garden is simply an oasis of relaxation and very well maintained. The food is very good, with something for everyone. Special requests are gladly accommodated. My partner is diabetic, and the staff here is very attentive; overall, the staff is very friendly and always in a good mood. The rooms are clean and have a very nice balcony and a fantastic view. We highly recommend this hotel! We would love to spend our vacation here again next year.
