The rooms were very comfortable and welcoming, spotlessly clean, and the breakfast service was excellent, with a menu for all tastes and meticulously selected ingredients. The same can be said for dinner every day, with an impeccable menu and top-notch service.

A very nice hotel with only minor flaws. First, the positives: the staff was extremely friendly; the booked room was large, very well furnished, and very quiet; the food served was always of very high quality; dinner was always very tasty. The spa area is good, but not exceptional for a hotel of this category.
Two things bothered us a bit – but that's nitpicking at a high level.
(i) The portions at dinner were very small, and the main course options were sometimes very unconventional: "Beef cheek" or "cooked meat from the farm" is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, nor is fish. The vegetarian option was always the only option. Upon specific request, slightly larger portions were served, but even those were still rather small. Why there is no salad buffet (to compensate for the small portions) and no third main course option (which one would expect from a 4* superior hotel) remains the hotelier's secret.
(ii) The hotel is fully committed to sustainability and digital detox. That's good and welcome; however, we also felt a bit patronized. There should be Wi-Fi in the room; you don't have to use it. Furthermore, the constant(!) notices like "Please save water/energy/light and feel free to forgo daily room cleaning" are ridiculous for a hotel with several saunas and two pools. Anyone staying at this hotel will behave sustainably anyway; other guests won't be attracted to the concept. To avoid daily room cleaning, the hotel should offer an incentive and a discount. Otherwise, one might get the impression that this is more about cost-saving.

Unfortunately, I had trouble sleeping because of the hard beds.
We also had the misfortune of having people occupying the towels in the relaxation room and very "important" people with their cell phones in the relaxation area. Relaxation wasn't really possible.

We were fortunate enough to spend our autumn holiday at your wonderful hotel. It's our third time, and this time we had the pleasure of staying in the penthouse... a truly beautiful, enormous living space with larch wood flooring and a superb terrace with a pool, recliners, and fitness equipment. Simply a dream. The subtle scent of wood promised relaxation as soon as we entered. After a wonderful hike in nature, relaxation at its finest. The evening menu was once again sensational. The cuisine was of a very high standard and, above all, sustainable. We thank you for the wonderful break, your sustainable concept, and your incredibly good and friendly service. Can you give more than 5 stars? We spent two weeks at the Naturhotel Rainer and were absolutely thrilled. Very nice and friendly staff. And the food – it couldn't be more delicious. During a tour of the hotel, the chef told us a lot about his sustainability philosophy. We have great respect for someone who puts so much thought into the hotel – also for the next generation – and consistently implements it. Almost all of the products are from their own farm or mostly from the valley. And the food felt like something from a 5-star restaurant. We would especially like to highlight Reinhard's infusions. Thank you so much for everything. We will remember this time fondly and will come back.

Simply fantastic from start to finish! I stayed at the Naturhotel Rainer alone and immediately felt warmly welcomed and completely at home. The entire team is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and caters to every need with genuine warmth; you immediately feel that hospitality is lived here.
The rooms are modern, spacious, and absolutely clean, furnished with great attention to detail.
My highlight: no cell phone reception and a swing on the balcony
Everywhere you notice how well-maintained the entire hotel is. A real highlight is the cuisine: varied, fresh, regional, and of the highest quality, every dish a delight and prepared with palpable passion.
The wellness area is stylish, tranquil, and very clean, just the right place to relax after an active day. All of this makes the Naturhotel Rainer a place where you immediately feel at home, even if you're traveling alone.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and am already looking forward to my next stay!

Beautiful, new hotel with spacious, all-wood rooms. A relaxing atmosphere. Excellent food, a large and varied breakfast and dinner buffet that's never boring. The pool is suitable for children and the beautiful, adults-only spa is stunning.
The hotel is welcoming, even for children, despite not being a family hotel.
The only flaw (since we have small children) is the slightly slow service at dinner.

Good value for half board, spacious rooms with a lovely balcony with a beanbag and swing in the evening sun (Deluxe Luxury Room). Delicious breakfast and dinner, with two dishes to choose from per course (including a vegetarian option). Outdoor sauna, outdoor pool for adults. The kids could only swim in the indoor pool, which is rather dimly lit. They were with us in the garden, but it wasn't clear where the transition to adults-only was.
Very courteous and uncomplicated communication with reception beforehand (because it was a bit unclear how many of us were coming). Friendly staff in the restaurant, although it sometimes took a while to be noticed.
The hotel is in a quiet location in a rather narrow valley, with a bus stop nearby. About 15 minutes by car to Bichl/Colle to the lift parking lot for the Ratschings ski area (a small, beautiful, and uncrowded ski area).
Slight deductions for the many narrow corridors and stairs in the basement and in the pool area. Not bad, but it seemed like something had been added to it all the time.
If we're in the area again, we'd love to come back. Thank you so much for the lovely birthday present :-)

Overall, one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in!
I stayed there last winter, and we want to go back in the warmer months!
Beautiful, renovated hotel, nestled in the tranquil mountains, with breathtaking views.
Clean, tidy, and spacious rooms.
Half-board is highly recommended: a generous breakfast with sweet and savory options, homemade cakes... in short, a little bit of everything, and all delicious! Dinner is the icing on the cake! Every morning you choose your evening courses, which vary daily: exceptional gourmet dishes made with seasonal products, mouth-watering desserts.
There's a spa with a pool and whirlpool, and an outdoor cabin surrounded by snow with a sauna.
Plus, every day they offer activities to enjoy together, such as snowshoeing (snowshoes and poles provided by them), hikes, etc., accompanied by Veronica, whom we congratulate for her skill and cheerful disposition!
I'm giving it 5 stars because I can't give it more, but it deserves all the praise!

A fantastic nature hotel; the name says it all. Unfortunately, we were only there for a long weekend; we would have loved to stay longer. The family is very friendly, as are all the staff. The service was top-notch, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The spa area is beautifully designed with everything you could want – a swimming pool, various saunas, a whirlpool, and plenty of relaxation rooms. The hotel is in a lovely location by a stream. We were very happy, and I'm coming back next year with my best friend. This time, I was there with my husband, and he enjoyed it too.

I have to say, it was a truly wonderful experience. I came here with my girlfriend, and it was truly a wonderful experience. We booked a panoramic room with a truly breathtaking view of the bell tower. Plus, we were lucky because it snowed recently...
I have to say, the spa is immense, truly large, beautiful, and full of different things to do on multiple floors.
The staff, as they should be in a hotel of this kind, are truly friendly, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable.
The only "problem" is that on Sundays they serve a gourmet dinner with smaller dishes, but that's still a feature. On other days, the portions are normal, but everything was delicious. We'll be back. WOW!!

I stayed for a week with my family at this hotel located in the middle valley, just minutes from the beautiful city of Vipiteno. Starting with the positives, the newly built, all-wood structure offers a picturesque view. The staff are helpful and friendly. The restaurant offers an excellent take on Tyrolean cuisine, and the breakfast is equally good, featuring homemade products (don't miss the jams). The hotel's services (such as excursions to the various valleys) are truly well-organized, including providing you with all the necessary equipment (like backpacks and snowshoes). The spa includes two saunas, a Turkish bath, a whirlpool, and a saltwater pool. The hotel prides itself on meticulous customer service and respect for the environment, as it strives to reduce waste. A small criticism of the rooms, which, although beautiful and kept immaculately clean, all made of wood and with breathtaking views, in the morning feel like part of a painting. There are some aspects that could be improved. Having stayed in a triple room, I found myself with a sofa bed that was uncomfortable and also short. In fact, we immediately had to change rooms (which were also more expensive, even though they had expressly told us the rate was the same). Therefore, clearer communication is needed, although we expect their feedback to resolve this mix-up. In conclusion, the stay was more than positive. We will definitely return, and I recommend staying at this property for an unforgettable holiday in South Tyrol.

We had a wonderful break at the Naturhotel Rainer. The Jaufental Valley is a relaxing gem surrounded by nature. The hotel is very well-maintained and modernly run, yet maintains old traditions and a strong connection to nature and the region. The rooms are beautifully furnished. We had a wonderful goat room with a view of the church tower and the cemetery. It was simply lovely to sleep there. We didn't find the church bells disturbing. The food, we must say, was absolutely amazing. So pure and delicious. For me, as a vegetarian, it was the best meal I've eaten out in a long time. My favorite was the artichoke heart with carrot puree. Hannes Rainer cooks like a god. The service is fantastic, unobtrusive but attentive. The drinks selection leaves nothing to be desired. The sauna experience in the evening and Reinhard's infusions are fantastic. All in all, a wonderful break in a beautiful setting. See you again very soon. We enjoyed six wonderful days at the hotel in October, which included many hikes in the beautiful, tranquil Jaufen Valley and afternoons spent relaxing in the wellness area.
The beautiful pinewood rooms with panoramic views were truly something special and certainly contributed to our relaxation.
The evening menus were more than sufficient, and the regional selection in particular was always impressive, always with something new (e.g., South Tyrolean banana ). The wine selection and recommendations were also always on point.
The service was always attentive and made our time in the hotel a pleasant experience – both in the hotel and in the wellness area.
There is so much more that could be said. We felt at home and enjoyed the days. And with that, we can recommend the hotel at any time!

What an enchanting place to relax. Everything is just right at the Naturhotel Rainer.
It's a small, family-run hotel with thoughtful additions to the food and relaxation options. The quality of the food is very nutritious and delicious, and the guided hikes are lovingly selected and well-accompanied. My highlight is the daily infusions and the subsequent dip in the hotel's own mountain stream. I feel very refreshed after 7 days at Rainer's. Thank you for the wonderful time.
P.S. Getting there by train from Germany is very easy. The destination, Brenner, can be reached from Munich in about 2:30 hours. The hotel offers a free shuttle.

The Naturhotel Rainer lives up to its name and is a wonderful refuge for a nature-loving holiday in the mountains! Some things stand out in my memory:
- The tranquility of the beautiful, pristine Jaufental Valley, enhanced only by the gentle murmur of the stream and the church opposite. It's hard to imagine less traffic or even street noise.
- A fantastic kitchen, which conjures up a wonderful breakfast in the morning with exceptionally high-quality products and also impresses at dinner. We found the vegetarian dishes particularly outstanding.
- Cooling off in the ice-cold mountain stream right next to the log cabin sauna, where Reinhard performs fantastic infusions.
We'll definitely be back again and wish the Rainer family continued success and friendly guests :-)

A top address for nature lovers seeking relaxation with culinary aspirations!
We booked the Panorama Suite; the location makes the view simply fantastic. The morning view of nature and the mountains immediately makes us want to go on the next hike.
The surrounding area simply has so much to offer that we'll be back for that reason alone.
Our leisure highlight was the hike to the hotel's own Ontratalm with the senior chefs on Wednesday.
The guided hike with the explanations about nature and the surrounding area, as well as the unique natural scenery of the Ontratalm, coupled with the hearty food up there, mean we will definitely do this hike again on every stay.
A main reason we chose this hotel is the hotel's culinary concept.
Hannes Rainer and his team make every effort to use regional, natural products, 80% of which are home-grown and the rest from the immediate surroundings.
However, these excellent products can only shine when they are perfectly prepared by professionals in the kitchen – and they are.
All the menus we enjoyed were outstanding in terms of taste and craftsmanship, perfectly balanced and portioned, just enough to satisfy our hunger.
The breakfast is also top-quality, with homemade sausage, regional cheese and butter, homemade jams and lemonade, etc.
This is only topped by the competent and friendly atmosphere of the team and the Rainer family themselves.

The pool was a bit too small, and the entire pool area was located in a dark room. Staying at this hotel is truly a dream: secluded and peaceful, you have all the peace you could wish for. My room had a swing on the balcony and comfortable seating. The view of the church illuminated at night, right from my bed, is breathtaking.

Everything around you feels like you're in an enchanted forest, and I recommend taking a walk in the surrounding area.

It's actually a nice hotel, but it should be made clearer that there's no internet in the rooms. I find that patronizing; we're not on a school trip, and there are children involved. I think everyone should be able to decide for themselves whether or not they use the internet. The service is quite good, but sometimes it just takes too long to get what you need. Even though the hotel is mostly praised, there are a few weaknesses. We've stayed in various hotels in South Tyrol for years, so the comparison isn't really valid. Our experience at this hotel wasn't one that would lead us to book again.

Dinner is included, but drinks, including sparkling water at €4, are extra.
Dogs are charged €20 per day when an additional final cleaning fee would be sufficient.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week over the New Year! The tranquility of the house and the valley was just what we needed at this time of year. We think the sustainability concept is forward-looking and are happy to support it by traveling by train. The offered pick-up service worked perfectly. The absolute highlight was the New Year's Eve celebration. We stayed at the Hotel Rainer for a long weekend. The hotel is undergoing a transformation (from an aging ski hotel to a sustainable design/nature hotel). This is unfortunately noticeable in some places.
First of all, a big thank you to the entire team. We felt very well looked after at all times in every area of the hotel (reception, bar, restaurant). The friendly service made our stay a pleasant one.
We also liked the newly designed rooms.
Why do I currently only see 3 out of 5 stars:
1. The restaurant - except for the bar itself - is more reminiscent of a large, old dining room than a cozy restaurant.
2. The food was rather okay one day; the cheese buffet was often empty, and there were a few flies milling around it. On the second day, the food was excellent.
3. Some previous reviews mention the lack of Wi-Fi. That wouldn't be a problem at all. We were even informed of this at check-in, with the explanation that it would be nice to be able to unplug for a while. But if you think this approach through to its logical conclusion, you could also do without the mini-TV in the room.
4. The wellness area wasn't very inviting, in my opinion. The swimming pool is a small, classic indoor pool that was taken over by several children during our weekend. Peace and relaxation were impossible. The Finnish sauna was broken throughout our entire stay. Therefore, all guests gathered in the small and very dark rest of the wellness area. Here, too, comfort and relaxation were lacking.
In summary: The hotel's new concept is absolutely the right approach. However, it isn't yet fully noticeable in all areas.

Excellent hotel, dog-friendly, at the quiet end of the valley. World-class, fresh, organic cuisine with home-grown produce. The half-board is perfect, with a plentiful breakfast offering many standard fare but also many unusual treats, such as a smoothie maker station, honeycomb, local muesli, and much more. Dinner, except for one meal a week, is always a 6-course menu with very unusual creations to delight the palate.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and you can easily linger at the bar in the evenings.
The sauna area is perfectly adequate; in summer, you can refresh yourself by taking a dip in the adjacent stream. In winter, you can, of course, take advantage of the snow. The swimming pool and whirlpool are perfect for relaxing after a day of snowboarding or hiking.
The rooms are ultra-modern and furnished with frequent flyers in mind, with a natural finish. A very beautiful wooden style and almost perfect workmanship.
In winter, the nearby Racines ski resort is highly recommended, with its north-east-facing slope, perfect for skiers and snowboarders (the ski bus departs directly from the hotel). In summer, it's also perfect for hiking, mountaineering, via ferrata, or crossing the Jaufen Pass.
I love coming here to relax.

For years, my wife, our dog, and I have been traveling to Alto Adige in the summer, always changing valleys and, consequently, hotels.
This year, we opted for Val Giovo and the NaturalHotel Rainer, and it was a great choice.
The valley is peaceful and unspoiled, just what we were looking for.
The hotel is committed to sustainability, and we appreciated every initiative they implemented, especially the "Turn to 0" initiative.
The room was the Superior Luxury Zirbe, furnished in Swiss pine with a view of the forest.
Very spacious and relaxing.
The staff were kind, professional, and above all attentive to their guests' needs.
The spa area and massages were excellent.
Weekly program with various activities.
They show great respect for our four-legged friends; they make you feel at ease.
Last but not least, a round of applause to the Rainer family for their management and the vision they have for running the hotel.
The organized excursion to the family mountain hut was beautiful, with lunch provided (typical local products), but what particularly amazed us was that the owners, their grandchildren, and their family were there to cook, prepare, and clean—a wonderful idea.
We will definitely cherish this vacation.
I'll conclude by saying that if you like a valley without chaos and a hotel that respects nature, the NaturHotel Rainer is for you.

We spent three days at the Natura Rainer hotel and had a great time, the modern style room with terrace and view of the splendid little church of Val di Mezzo. Relaxing afternoons in the pool area, beautiful ventilation in the outdoor sauna, surrounded by nature, with a refreshing swim in the river afterwards! Many hiking trails start directly from the hotel, also excellent for our four-legged friends! Excellent cuisine with delicious variety of dishes, friendly staff and family atmosphere. We stayed at the Naturhotel Rainer for two weeks in July 2022. It was actually a "stopgap" solution, as we had booked a neighboring hotel months ago, but they "cheated" us out two weeks before our arrival because the rooms were needed for other guests. So we ended up staying at the Hotel Rainer, where we were able to stay at such short notice. Luckily.
The hotel is truly beautiful, and the entire staff is exceptionally friendly. The location is truly unbeatable in terms of tranquility and "closeness to nature." The food is very good, though not always to everyone's taste. The portion sizes are also not quite sufficient after a long hike. But that's not a problem: Free changes to the menu and portion sizes are possible at any time.
The Hotel Rainer is committed to "closeness to nature" and "sustainability." Much of its produce comes from its own production, including energy. The rooms are also very "close to nature," furnished with lots of wood. However, you run into problems with storage and storage options when the table and bedside table are made from a single piece of tree trunk.
Overall, there's nothing to complain about in terms of food. Except perhaps the prices: €7 for a glass of shandy and €10 for a schnapps are a bit steep. But that doesn't detract from any of the stars. Overall, it's absolutely recommended. Even bringing two dogs along was no problem.

We've been here twice already and can't wait to go back because every time we've left, we've left feeling REFRESHED.
ROOMS: Gorgeous and spotlessly clean. The scent that fills you as soon as you enter the room is fantastic. Wonderful shower, super comfortable bed, huge balcony. The windows are incredibly soundproof.
RELAXATION AREA: Beautiful and welcoming pools, but above all, warm. The saunas are fantastic, both indoor and outdoor. After the sauna, you can help yourself to drinks and dried fruit, which are always available. The masseuse is excellent.
CUISINE: The waiters are professional and very friendly. The food has ALWAYS been excellent, but my favorite part is breakfast. I dreamed about their hazelnut spread and their variety of teas last night.
CLEANLINESS: I personally saw the girls cleaning the rooms and was shocked. Aside from the fact that we always found the rooms spotless, I was amazed by the fact that they even washed the balcony windows, both inside and out. Everything was taken care of down to the smallest detail!
Final thoughts:
- The Wi-Fi and cell phone reception are poor in the room. This may be a drawback for you, but for us, it was an excuse to isolate ourselves from everything and everyone; it was exactly what we were looking for.
- The soaps, shower gels, and body lotion have an amazing scent.
We bought some products at the hotel shop, and now every time I need to relax, I use those cleansers. The scent alone brings back the sense of peace I felt while staying at the Rainer Hotel.
- If I could give more stars, I would have!

The Naturhotel Rainer is an absolute stroke of luck! Without exception, all of the staff live and love the sustainable, responsible, and nature-oriented concept, and they are warm and yet extremely professional. The panoramic suite is spacious and a mix of modernity and comfort. Guests come from all over, young and old.
The kitchen enchanted us with exclusively regional ingredients every day of the week. It's also impressive that the hotel itself is built largely from natural materials (lots of wood, clay, and glass), uses little plastic, and travel by train is rewarded. E-bikes, an electric car, and hiking equipment are available for rental.
The guided sunrise tour with Eva to the Zinseler, the hike to the Hans alpine pasture, the e-MTB tour with Stefan, the hike to the Bock (1,200-meter elevation gain), and the infusions in the forest sauna with Ulli were our highlights.
For those who like animals, there's plenty to do. Cows, goats, sheep, horses, and donkeys live happily in the meadows surrounding the hotel.

We spent 11 nights this summer on a hiking holiday at the Naturhotel Rainer.
The room was very nice, quietly located at the back, and we could sleep with the window open without any problems.
The breakfast and especially the dinner were excellent; we particularly enjoyed the clever combination of regional ingredients and exquisite cuisine!
We really liked the service and friendly atmosphere, the drinks advice was great, and everything was always very quick.
A proper hygiene policy was also important to us at this time, and what we really liked was that it was unobtrusive yet effective despite everything.
The location offers a great starting point for hikes directly from the hotel, or a short drive or bus ride took us to other valleys, with something for all types of hikes.
We have already chosen hikes for our next stay and would love to come back. Until then, we wish the Rainer family and the team continued success!

The same can be said for the cuisine, which was truly exceptionally delicious and varied! We've already booked again for October.

Absolutely fantastic food in the evening and a very nice breakfast buffet. Beautiful wellness area! Very quiet. There was a wonderful hike with the hotel hosts to their alpine hut. There, they had a delicious barbecue and sampled homemade schnapps. It's best to have a car. In 2017, there were some great hikes with the mountain guide Eva. A great room, but unfortunately above the kitchen and much too noisy. Therefore, the night ended at 6:30 a.m. Unfortunately, it's not suitable for vegetarians. They can't accommodate individual guests. Otherwise, a good location and a nice hotel. Great wellness area, Uli and Anita are fantastic.

A wonderful and lovingly run hotel...
We felt very comfortable.
The hike and refreshments at the hotel's own alpine pasture were absolutely wonderful. The owner, Hans, led the guests on a wonderful hike.

Family-run nature hotel, friendly and accommodating. Everything was perfect: good food, well-kept rooms, Tesla rental—the junior manager took a lot of time and effort to explain the Tesla technology to us. Everything was top-notch. Thank you, we'd love to come again.

Digital detox in the Düstertal valley:
The Naturhotel Rainer is a family-run 4-star hotel in the beautiful South Tyrolean mountains. Unfortunately, the sun never reaches the valley and the hotel during the winter months. The hotel team offers a wide range of tips for hiking excursions – including sunny ones. The hotel appears to have been freshly renovated and has incorporated many aspects of a sustainable, natural, ecologically run hotel. Even the wellness area places emphasis on ecology and the use of local products. Half-board offers a rich breakfast buffet with local products (fruit, butter, cheese, bacon). Only those products desired by vegans (such as oat or almond milk and plant-based butter) are missing. Dinner usually consists of several Michelin-star-standard courses, which can also be arranged vegetarian. The hotel's philosophy is that Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby and bar. The Wi-Fi is turned off between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM (!!). Wi-Fi is NOT available in the rooms. While there is cellular coverage in this side valley, it doesn't reach our rooms either. People who want to get some work done will feel limited. Those looking for a digital break will definitely feel very comfortable. With Wi-Fi in the room, I would give it a full 5 stars.

A very nice hotel. We were lucky that it wasn't too busy, of course, as the holidays started after our week. We got along well with the other hotel guests and even did things together. The owners and staff were always there with their wholeheartedness, and we quickly felt very comfortable. The food was great, the room absolutely beautiful, and the hike up the mountain pasture was super fun. We'd love to come back. Saying goodbye after just one week was hard.

The hotel is entirely organic. The breakfast is excellent.
The enormous selection of breads and rolls, as well as original honeycomb,
are particularly noteworthy. The food, as part of the half-board package, is refined and delicious.
The wellness area includes a large sauna, infrared and steam saunas, and a water treading pool.
An advantage is that the sauna leads to the terrace, where you have an outdoor relaxation area.
The wine tasting is interesting and highly recommended, where you can learn more about the hotel's philosophy and strategy.
It's a shame that the rooms on the third floor are not up to standard and are awaiting renovation.
Caution: Room 301 is small and has a small closet without laundry compartments. Otherwise, the rooms (here, 304)
are sufficiently large and equipped with a safe and a small TV.
