The Schrott family is exceptionally friendly and attentive.
The hotel is a great base for excursions. It's also conveniently located for public buses (included in the card, which you receive free of charge).
The evening 6-8 course menu begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately two hours; it's also exceptional.
The church bell, which rings every quarter of an hour, day and night, is annoying. Several people found their showers leaking.

This is our second time at the Hotel Sonnenhof in Caines – and we were once again completely thrilled. The warm hospitality of the family and the entire team is simply exceptional. You feel welcome from the very first moment, even with your dog, which is especially important to us.
The cuisine is a true delight: The chef's conjures up simply divine dishes – tastefully prepared and lovingly prepared. A new addition to the team is a pastry chef, whose delicacies perfectly round off the day.

Amazing! Everything about the hotel is perfect! The food is unique, with a world-class breakfast buffet, cake and snacks, and a dinner menu (see pictures). The rooms are beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the bathroom is very new and elegant. The service and the entire staff are attentive, super friendly, and helpful in every way! The location is stunning, with views of Merano, Schenna, the Hirzer/Iffinger Mountains, and the entire valley. The spa area is very cozy and perfect for warming up after cold hikes or bike rides.

On the recommendation of friends, we spent three wonderful days at the family-run Hotel Sonnenhof! We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive.
Our room with a balcony was very comfortable, clean, and offered a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape. We were particularly impressed by the food: every dish was prepared with love – the taste was truly exceptional! The breakfast buffet was also impressive – with attention to detail and a fantastic selection.
The spacious pool area with indoor and outdoor pools, as well as the sauna area, also contributed significantly to our relaxation. Our children had a blast at the ping-pong table and the billiards table, while I really enjoyed using the fitness equipment – which, while not quite up to date, still serves its purpose.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a hotel with heart. We would gladly come back!

Alle waren sehr kinderfreundlich, als Familie war es für uns ein perfekter Urlaub.
Der Sonnenhof ist ein kleines sehr gepflegtes, familiengeführtes Haus. Der Garten ist mit sehr viel Liebe angelegt, um das Haus entlang führt ein schöner Barfußweg, es gibt ein Kneippbecken, einen wundervollen Whirlpool aus Naturstein, aus diesem fließt ein kleiner Wasserfall in den schön angelegten Pool. Für die Kinder gab es eine Spielecke mit Tischtennisplatte, Tischkicker und vielem mehr.
Das Essen war sehr lecker, jeden Abend gab es ein fein abgestimmtes Menü, für die Kinder gab es bei Bedarf eine separate Karte.
Wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen!

The creative, healthy cuisine with up to 8 courses is particularly noteworthy: exquisite, surprising, and something for connoisseurs. I have rarely experienced meals in a hotel that tasted so delicious.

Rarely does one experience such warm and uncomplicated treatment as a guest in an owner-managed hotel.
When we asked about what's worth seeing in the area, we were enthusiastically informed about the activities and what was particularly worth seeing.
Here's a nice example: We wanted to go to a grappa tasting and asked how best to get to the "conference venue" by bus.
The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and the bus also goes there, but the return trip is a bit more complicated than expected, so the hotel landlady, without much thought, said, "Come on, I'll take you there and pick you up again." Of course, you also get to chat with other guests, and many of them have said that they've been coming here, some for years, and feel very comfortable.
Children are welcome and obviously feel very comfortable.
Herbs are planted in the garden, which you can find in the evening with the sensational meal.
At no point does one get the impression that additional services are being sold.
Where else can you get free afternoon cake and fresh apples while hiking?
I could list a few more things, but read the reviews from other guests; I agree 100%. We will definitely come back and recommend our vacation to our friends.

The rest was made possible by the family that runs the hotel and the staff, making it a very pleasant holiday. The food started off great and varied in the morning. And luckily we chose it; walking to another restaurant would have been punishing given the altitude :)

The Hotel Sonnenhof has been lovingly run by the family for many decades. The rooms on the upper floors are modern and well-equipped. The cuisine is outstanding, and the staff and service are absolutely top-notch. The entire complex is very well maintained, and the two indoor and outdoor pools offer the perfect opportunity to relax with a stunning panoramic view of the Passeier Valley. Parking is available, some of it covered, and a small bus stops right in front of the hotel with connections to Tirolo. We felt very comfortable and can wholeheartedly recommend the hotel. We were able to spend a wonderful week with you. Thank you so much for that.
Starting with the wonderful, lovingly prepared breakfast buffet that left nothing to be desired. Regional sausages and cheeses, yogurt, jam, mostly homemade, fresh fruit, homemade rolls, what felt like 100 individual ingredients for muesli, coffee specialties, and many types of tea, including the blend from Wilma's herb garden. I'm sure I've forgotten something - it was fantastic.
In the afternoon, the homemade apple strudel, which I already miss, and in the evening, a magnificent dinner menu with at least 5 courses, topped off every evening with the cheese buffet.
Homemade herbs to complement every dish.
Indoor pool and sauna, and a new outdoor pool with a fantastic view of Merano and the surrounding area.
More than enough leisure activities, a guided e-bike tour, and guided hikes round out the sporting activities.
Extremely friendly staff (especially Johanna, Priska, and Annalena), and chambermaids who always bring a smile to your face when the bed is rearranged.
The wine tasting of South Tyrolean wines in the house was sensational.

We stayed four nights in a suite on the third floor, facing west, with half board. We had sun in the mornings and afternoons, and thanks to the two balconies, we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather even in October. The room is absolutely clean and modern. The room was cleaned and made up every day. The bed was always made up with new duvets. The hotel family is very accommodating and personally attends to all your needs. The breakfast buffet is comprehensive and features organic products and many homemade items. Dinner is a rich and varied five-course menu with South Tyrolean specialties. The wine list is extensive and offers good quality wines, with bottle prices mostly starting at €25. A small bar offers the opportunity to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The indoor pool is large and pleasantly heated. The only criticism is the sauna area, which is showing its age but is absolutely clean. If you arrive by car, there is a large parking lot, with a few spaces under cover. Overall, we spent four very pleasant and enjoyable days at the hotel. We can recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to relax, enjoy a beautiful view, and be treated with courtesy.

A very pleasant, family-run hotel with excellent food (multi-course menu in the evenings) and a free cake buffet in the afternoon. Excellent service and friendly staff. A great starting point for hikes. Fabulous views!
