Kuens: small village in a great position
Only 5 km from the thermal spa city of Meran, there is the wonderful village of Kuens, located at about 600 m of altitude. Kuens is one of the smallest monicipalities in South Tyrol and, like the neighbouring community of Riffian, is located at the beginning of the Passeiertal Valley. Those who spend their holidays in Kuens can look forward to a varied holiday time, because both the imposing mountain world of the Texel Group Nature Park and the sights of Meran are within easy reach. Whether it is a stroll through town or a visit to a museum, a hike or a bike tour, a round of golf or a rafting tour – there is plenty to experience in the nearby surroundings of Kuens.
Waalweg path & earth pyramids
The quiet village of Kuens is surrounded by orchards and vineyards. The seasons and farming traditions still determine the rhythm of village life. The “Kuenser Waalweg” path has existed for around 600 years: the circular hike that connects the upper and lower Kuenser Waalweg is recommended and also offers a beautiful view of the earth pyramids in Kuens. Also worth seeing are the parish church of Kuens and the tractor museum at the Ungerichthof farm with 60 vintage tractors. Kuens combines Mediterranean lightness and a mild climate with Alpine down-to-earthness and fantastic mountain panoramas.
Varied holiday pleasures
From the challenging mountain tour to the Sprons lakes to the family-friendly excursion to Dorf Tirol, from the scenic cycling route to St. Leonhard in Passeier to soothing wellness holidays in the thermal baths of Meran, from the exciting rafting tour on Passer river to the romantic visit to the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle – Kuens is an ideal starting point for discovering the many natural and cultural highlights in the holiday region of Meran. And after these experiences, holidaymakers relax in the hospitable feel-good atmosphere of their comfortable hotel in Kuens and enjoy a multi-course gourmet dinner accompanied by wines or fruit juices from the region.
