From Klausen in Eisacktal a roads leads up to Villanders. Situated on the sunny side, this area was already populated during Stone Age and served over centuries as important settlement, also for the Romans. On the high plain of Villanders

The high plain of Villanders in the midst of the Sarntaler Alps is the second largest high plain in Europe and convinces mountaineers and walkers equally – with its spectacular view over the Dolomites in Eisacktal and the glaciers of the Alps.
