Experience diversity in Villanders

From Klausen in Eisacktal a roads leads up to Villanders. Situated on the sunny side, this area was already populated during Stone Age and served over centuries as important settlement, also for the Romans. The communal area extends from the river bed of Eisack up to the high plain of Villanders. Visitors find here a nature paradise and a fantastic panorama which invites to stay and relax.

Field „Plunacker“ was the site of discovery for remains from ancient times: from the Stone, the Bronze and the Iron Age, from the Romans and the early Middle Ages. These discoveries gave way to the foundation of the Archeopark directly on site. Another testimony of the past is the adventure mine in Villanders. During the Middle Ages one of the most important mines in Tyrol, it was forgotten after its shut down. Today it can be visited within a guided tour.

On the high plain of Villanders

The high plain of Villanders in the midst of the Sarntaler Alps is the second largest high plain in Europe and convinces mountaineers and walkers equally – with its spectacular view over the Dolomites in Eisacktal and the glaciers of the Alps. During summer traditional cabins dish up typical South Tyrolean delicacies. On the way await sites such as Castle Gravetsch, Castle Gernstein or Bath Dreikirchen, giving insight into the history of the village.

On the South Tyrolean Chestnut-Road the taverns of Villanders invite during autumn to the popular „Törggelen“: the tasting of new wine or must along with traditional South Tyrolean dishes and roasted chestnuts. During winter the central location gives easy access to numerous ski areas: Alta Badia, Plose near Brixen, Gitschberg Jochtal near Vals. A net of cross-country tracks leads all the way to Rittner Horn, and toboggan-runs provide lots of fun for kids of all ages. In the evening the inns and hotels in Villanders invite for a get-together and a savoury dinner. Find here the most beautiful hotels in Villanders in the South Tyrolean Valle Isarco.

  • I want to start from the beginning. First of all, we stayed at this gem three times, twice in winter and once in spring with family and friends. After visiting almost all the hotels in the Dolomites at this level, there is only one thing left to say, it has no competitors. The hotel's location is perfection, amazing views, a wonderfully quiet location with a view of the mountains. Regarding the family that owns the property, there are simply no words to describe the desire of the owners to make your vacation perfect and unforgettable, from the reception desk through the rooms, the owner's visit every evening, every table "not obviously", every request is handled immediately. Amazing spa area with stunning rituals that are almost always full with no space .Great respect for the sauna masters. Charming pools for both swimming and pampering, especially the nude pool with salt water. The quality of the food, the presentation and taste are simply amazing, impeccable service, very polite and attentive waiters. Comfortable, cozy and very modern rooms, not to mention the cleanliness of the rooms and the entire hotel is simply spotlessly clean. In short, perfection does not exist, but Tastin proves otherwise every time. Without a doubt, the perfect hotel
