Goldmines in Goldrain
The village of Goldrain in the commune of Latsch lies amidst the valley of Vinschgau at the foot of Mt. Sonnenberg. The name “Goldrain” stems from the common popular belief that gold was found in mines under the remains of mountain farm „Laggar“. Later however, it showed that the gold was merely potter’s ore. “Rain” can be translated with steep.
