Hiking in Lüsen
The valley of Lüsen extends from the bishop’s city of Brixen over a dozen kilometers to the mountain Peitler, a pristine side valley of the South Tyrolean Eisacktal, radiating peace and contentment. Above the wide meadows and forests and the traditional mountain farms, lies the alpine plain of Lüsen: blossoming meadows and on the horizon the North walls of “Peitlerkofel”, which offers an overwhelming spectacle especially during sunrise. From here the high plain of Rodeneck is especially easy to reach. Lüsen lies at the gate of UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage, the Dolomites and the nature park Puez-Geisler and offers a recreational area to recharge on all levels.
Just like in good old days
Places of interest in Lüsen are the “Mairhof” of the prince-bishop and the church with the 14th-century font and the wooden altars. In summer the village offers a nature lake and fantastic horse-back-riding tours through the area. A paragliding school offers flights, and mountainbikers or motorbikers can ride up to “Würzjoch”, the mountain pass between the valleys Eisacktal and Gadertal, where they will experience an incomparable view over the Dolomites.
In winter the deeply snowed, wild romantic landscape with the gentle hills and the high Dolomite peaks offers a quiet and cozy atmosphere, where the savory farm cooking tastes especially good. Besides, visitors will find a tranquil ski area, an ice-skating-rink, a cross-country ski track, a toboggan run, a mountain to practice ice climbing and numerous snowshoe walks through the winter wonderland. Not far from here lie the high cross-country tracks of Rodeneck and Würzjoch and the ski areas Plose and Gitschberg Jochtal, easily reachable from the hotels in Lüsen. If you are looking to spend your holiday in this village, find here the most beautiful hotel in Lüsen in the South Tyrolean Valle Isarco.
