In the Fugger town Sterzing
Medieval alleys and roads, colourful facades, traditional taverns with skillfully crafted signs, well-guarded by the town's trademark, the watchtower „Zwölferturm“: A few years ago Sterzing was awarded the title of one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy. During summer the old town offers the site for the cheerful Latern-Festival, during winter for the Christmas market. During the events and markets, music, food and drink and a unique atmosphere fill the streets of Sterzing.
At the foot of Rosskopf
Surrounded by quiet villages, Alps and glaciers, visitors find here a vast offer of divers excursions. In the ski areas Rosskopf, Ladurns near Gossensass and Ratschings-Jaufen in Ratschings, skiers, snow-shoe-walkers, cross-country skiers and sleigh-riders find plenty of space to indulge in their favourite winter sport. Afterwards the Indoor-Pool Balineum or the wellness areas of the hotels in Sterzing invite for deep relaxation.
During the warmer season the golf course opens and the surrounding glaciers offer a great destination for the more experienced climbers, such as Hochfeiler with 3.510 meters. On a rock above the city towers Castle Reifenstein, offering interesting tours for visitors. The shutdown ore-mine in Ridnaun Schneeberg or the white marble-gorge in Stange near Ratschings offer other fantastic destinations.
