In the capital of asparagus in Terlan
Sunshine, wine and asparagus: Terlan in the South of South Tyrol is the home of many little pleasures. The wine village between Meran and Bozen is well worth a visit no matter the season.
Thanks to the Mediterranean climate the asparagus-triangle Terlan, Vilpian and Siebeneich gets busy in springtime, with the cutting of the legendary local asparagus. Not long after the Asparagus-Weeks invite to visit the villages cultivating asparagus including Andrian and to taste the typical asparagus-recipes in the different restaurants or hotels in Terlan. Here you might come across meals like fresh asparagus with ham and “Bozner sauce”, asparagus risotto or asparagus with Speck.
The South of South Tyrol has been known for over 2.000 years as an extremely fertile and excellent wine territory. To celebrate this tradition, the famous Wine Road Weeks are held every year in May. In autumn more Tyrolean specialties can be enjoyed during the traditional “Törggelen” in the wine taverns, inns and hotels in Terlan; along with the sturdy South Tyrolean dishes, roasted chestnuts and a glass of Terlan’s new wine.
