Innichen and the giant Haunold

Innichen is looking back upon a tumultuous history. The foundation of the village took place with the settlement of Celtic people, who called it the area of Indius. A few hundred years later the Romans conquered the area and built the military station Littamum, which another few hundred years later was destroyed completely, for yet unknown reasons. In the year 769 the Benedictines monastery of was founded here for missionary purposes: monastery Innichen. From the oldest monastery in Tyrol developed the market village of Innichen in Hochpustertal.
