Time-out in Spinges

On a sunny plain above the valley Valle Isarco lies a hidden paradise: The village Spinges at 1.105 meters with less than 300 inhabitants. Here locals still lead a traditional life in close contact with nature, in between lie the extraordinary hotels in Spinges, especially for those among holidaymakers who appreciate reclusiveness, peace and tranquility.

Due to its location at the South Tyrolean hiking and skiing area Gitschberg Jochtal, vast alpine walking and cycle paths start almost directly at the doorstep. An attractive destination above Spinges is the lodge “Anratter Hütte” with playground and Animal Park for kids. When the snow covers the plains and hills with a deep white during winter, it is time to take out the skies, the sleds, the snow shoes or whatever your imagination comes up with. The sky is the limit. The hotels in Spinges offer direct access to the nearby ski resorts Gitschberg Jochtal, Plose or Kronplatz, where the adventures wait for winter enthusiasts from all over the globe.

The battle of Spinges

Once upon a time, Spinges was the site for a spectacularly heroic episode in history. The 26-year old Katharina Lanz, also known as the Tyrolean „Jeanne d’Arc“, fought the troupes of Napoleon armed with a hayfork. At the side of the local troupes the maid warded off the French from her position on the cemetery wall.

The neighboring village of Mühlbach offers more historical sites, but also vast possibilities for shopping or simple strolling through the medieval alleys. From here a cable car leads to Meransen and another beautiful hiking area; a bus leaves from here to Rodeneck, the starting point for a hike to the high plain of Rodeneck. In the nearby valley of Pfunders, “Fane Alm” presents a picturesque walking destination. The town Brixen offers guided walks through its alleys filled with cultural treasures. Furthermore, you can try yourself here in rafting, paragliding or simply lean back and enjoy the spectacular view. If you want to spend your vacation in these tranquil heights, find here the best hotels in Spinges in the South Tyrolean valley of Eisacktal.

  • We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The staff were exceptionally kind, attentive and always ready to make us feel welcome. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable. The setting is simply beautiful, with a charming inner courtyard, lovely garden and two swimming pools. It is a very peaceful and relaxing environment. The food was delicious, with great care taken to use local, organic and responsibly farmed products. We also particularly enjoyed discovering the excellent wines from South Tyrol. We appreciated the range of activities offered by the hotel, including guided hikes, mountain biking and wine tastings. The possibility of enjoying an afternoon snack was also a lovely touch. The complimentary public transport pass provided by the hotel was very convenient and allowed us to explore the area easily. Finally, the size of the hotel is just perfect. It is family-run, which gives it a warm and personal atmosphere. You immediately feel comfortable and at home. **A truly wonderful experience we would be delighted to come back!**
