Paradisiacal conditions in Saltaus
Beneath the nature reserve Texel Group, the hiking area Hirzer, only few kilometers from the spa town Meran lies the South Tyrolean village Saltaus in the valley of Passeiertal.
The modern cable car Hirzer makes Saltaus in the environs of Meran the ideal starting point for most walks leading up to the alpine heights.
Walk on the „Waalweg“ – the path along the ancient irrigation channel - to Schenna or Meran, across the paradisiacal landscape to Riffian and Dorf Tirol or along the „Waalweg“ of Mais; go through orchards, forests and meadows to Meran or simply enjoy the refreshing breeze of river Passer on the dam-walk to St. Martin or St. Leonhard in Passeier. The High Route of Meran above Saltaus leads through the nature park Texel Group and provides magical views and emotions to remember.
