Introducing mountain sports in Sexten

Untouched mountain pastures, high peaks within reach, golden eagles in the sky – in the valley of Sexten, the most Eastern side valley in Pustertal, guests and visitors find a natural reserve far from the busy life of the city. Here time is still made by nature, to be precise, by the Dolomite peaks Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve and One: the mountain solar clock of Sexten. Mountain Ten is also called Rotwand, beside Helm in Innichen a popular ski-resort. The skking areas have recently been united and are now comfortably reachable also via the Ski Pustertal Express. After a day in the snow Mountain Resort Patzenfeld, a wellness oasis unique in its kind, provides desired relaxation.

In the face of the Three Peaks

Not far from Sexten lie the world-famous Three Peaks “Drei Zinnen” - trademarks of the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The great peak is with roughly 3.000 meters the highest summit of the group. Since the first ascent over 100 years ago, the Drei Zinnen are regarded as the most attractive mountaineer-destination in the Alps. Today a high number of climbing routes are available, on every imaginable level. A greatly appreciated destination is the mountain lodge Drei Zinnen at the foot of Paternkofel, reachable over the valley Fischleintal. The area around the lodge was once site of the Dolomite war; different shelters, steep tracks and tunnels still testify to the fights carried out in the area.

Besides climbing expeditions outdoors or in the local climbing hall, visitors can go mountain biking, walk up to the alpine lodges on Nemesalm, visit the museum dedicated to artist Rudolf Stolz or sit back and relax in the inns or hotels in Sexten and let the inner clock tick – till it tunes in with the calm rhythm of the mountains. Find here the most beautiful hotels in Sexten in South Tyrolean Hochpustertal.
