Under the sun of Val Gardena in St. Christina
On sunny hillsides just opposite the majestic mountain Langkofel between St. Ulrich and Wolkenstein lies St. Christina in Val Gardena. The traditional mountain village is today one of the most popular holiday destinations in South Tyrol. Here you can possibilities for ice-skating, sledding, horse-riding and even ice-climbing – last under the supervision of a professional guide. During winter the annual Super-G of the Alpine Ski-World-Cup is held on Saslong in ski-resort Val Gardena. During summer visitors find numerous walking routes and a variety of guided climbing-tours, such as the circling of the Sellagroup, the so-called Sellaronda.
Culturally speaking a lot of interesting excursions await in St. Christina, such as the Road of the Planets, the St.-Jacobs-Church – the oldest church of the valley, only reachable by foot – or the Fish-Castle surrounded by fish ponds, property of a Venetian noble family.
