Healing powers in Untermoj
At the foot of Peitlerkofel, in a side-valley of Pustertal, lies the mountain village Untermoj, the highest location in the commune St. Martin in Thurn. The South Tyrolean village in the heart of the Dolomites is not situated far from Würzjoch, offering an incredible view over the valley. About the mineral spring Valdander and the hay baths of Sarighela
At 1.460 meters height originates the mineral spring Valdander. The name Valdander derives from Val d’Anter and means as much as cave valley. The spring is situated here in a flowstone-cave and high on minerals, sulfate and calcium. It has been known since 1890 and was known as one of the most efficient baths of its type. Today a bath house and a chapel remind of its healing powers.
Another experience worthwhile is a bath in the hay of Sarighela. The Sarighela meadows on the hills of Würzjoch at over 1.500 meters are said to have magical powers. Here in the soils of the Dolomites - rich in minerals - grow alpine herbs such as lady’s mantle, arnica and common yarrow. Baths in this particular hay is known to be especially used for stimulating and cleansing treatments. For the traditional bath only freshly cut plants, flowers and herbs are used.
