Seiser Alm is not only known for its colourful meadows or its fantastic mountain panorama, but also for its very clean and fresh mountain air. For this to remain that way, the street leading up to the elevated plain is closed for private traffic; a cable car and buses bring guests up to the plain.
Probably the name Kastelruth appears strangely familiar to you; and indeed, the famous Kastelruther Spatzen (=sparrows), trademark of German folk music, stem from this area. If you area lucky, you might spot lead singer Norbert Rier riding on one of his Haflinger horses through the beautiful Schlern area, just like once equally Kastelruth-born minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein.
