At the table of King Laurin in Tiers am Rosengarten
One of the smallest and most beautiful valleys in the Dolomites, is without a doubt Tiers am Rosengarten. At 1.000 meters above sea level lies the commune, in between Seiser Alm and Rosengarten in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The valley entering Valle Isarco offers a popular destination for nature friends, walkers and winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. A guided walk or a visit in the nature car park Schlern-Rosengarten gives insights into the diversity of plants and animals.
On the alpine meadows Proa above Weißlahnbahn visitors enter a natural terrace, from where the legendary rose garden of King Laurin can be seen especially well. During the “Bergler Weeks” one can enjoy here at a long table - besides the exceptional view to the rose garden - a five-course-menu composed of typical dishes of Tiers. Those who prefer a simpler meal, might enjoy the „Bergler Harass“: a picnic on the alpine pastures with a wooden crate (=Harrass) filled with a typical farmers snack. When the chestnuts are ripe and the wine is harvested in autumn the wine taverns and hotels in Tiers am Rosengarten are wonderful places to indulge in the ravishingly traditional “Törggelen”.
